Session Start: Wed Dec 29 13:29:27 1999 [13:29] * Logging Demione to 'demi.log' [13:29] Is now a good time for that FF2 interview? [13:29] yea sure [13:30] I guess my first question would be about Toma. What was that entire thing about? [13:31] refresh my memory [13:31] He used one of your old patches as a base to build his or something like that? [13:31] what was he doing? [13:32] yeah, well yeah [13:32] that about sums it up unless you'd like to hear me bitch about it [13:32] I talked to him yesterday and he was kinda curious as to how he ended up on the thanks list regardless of that. ;) [13:32] he is? hang on a sec [13:34] yeah 'm sure he offered some suggestion or somethign along the way [13:34] the guy's cool, the kind you can't hold a grudge against [13:35] Well, I've been asking everyone I interview about SoM2freak, because he's probably one of the people whose name gets the most snickers when it's mentioned anywhere.. What was your experience like working with him? [13:36] heh [13:36] he was just your average little jpop kid [13:37] my experience with him was pretty sick, just cuz of how opposite we turned out being, and both of us were stubborn [13:37] i'm sure he turned out fine though. [13:38] i remember the first time he discovered girls.. heh [13:38] he was cutting and pasting urls of jpop singers for everybody [13:39] after that we all knew som2freak a little differently.. [13:39] =) [13:39] I was wondering if you could explain the entire Translation Corporation thing to me. Even though they were working on FF3, they got a not so nice mention in your FF2 faq... What was that all about? [13:39] heh, just running through my shit list one by one, aren't ya [13:40] what was it i was mad at them about? [13:40] I've interviewed about 5 people already, so I've got a nice list. =) [13:40] Something about degrading the fan translation community or something. [13:40] yeah, basically their work was shit [13:41] too shitty to be pubicizing, definitely too shitty to be bragging about. [13:43] From what I've heard, FF2 was basicly almost completly run by you. What role, if any, did you have in the FF3 project? [13:43] i um [13:43] i was the first chump to put a font in the rom, the first night everybody found it [13:44] then it was som2freak for a while, doing his own thing.. [13:44] cuz by this time it was some shit between him and me and i didn't really want any part of it [13:45] so then this bloke named alex w. jackson comes on my wwwboard saying he's done some technical work with ff3j, right out of the blue. he was speaking on a level that i knew could really go somewhere with this game, so i swallowed my pride and introduced him to som2freak [13:45] Well, that's about all the questions I've got at the moment, so before we wrap the interview up, is there anything you'd like to add? [13:46] hm me? let's see [13:46] the trans scene is horrible anymore [13:46] a bunch of kids with too much hate on their minds [13:47] You probably wouldn't be suprised how many people I've interviewed that said something like that. [13:47] getting nearly no recruits, the advertisign is bad.. it's gone nowhere lately [13:47] and the games people are picking are lame [13:47] that about covers it, unless you'd actually like to go into one of those points. [13:48] If you'd like to elaborate, it's fine by me. [13:48] okie [13:48] the emu community has fads [13:48] back int he day it was NES rom collecting, then translations was it for a while [13:49] when the whole neo geo and mame thing happened, it brought a whole bunch of new faces into the scene, enough to shift it a little [13:50] so now you don't just have new fads, you have a new focus on the fads [13:50] and NES and SNES games really aren't anywhere near this focus anymore.. [13:50] if i still cared about the trans scene and actually wanted it to prosper like it did, i'd start getting some of that newskool scene into it [13:51] you can see there are people that are would-be translation sceners in the newskool, they just don't want to have anything to do with you guys because it's not really a thriving scene [13:51] people like the cps2 board callus hackers and such [13:52] and that's all i have to say about that. [13:53] Well, thanks for answering my questions. [13:53] np pz [13:53] Now it's off to hunt down Akilla. =) [13:53] hah [13:53] good luck getting anything solid outta him [13:54] No one seems to like him much for some reason. [13:54] he's a dork [13:54] his scene experience was built off of false claims and bad work [13:54] that's all you're going to get from him. [13:55] He's basicly the last of the "major players" I need to talk to. [13:56] major player? heh [13:56] what did he do except get beat down a couple of times [13:57] Aparently tried to piss off other people. [13:58] yeah, go have fun with that one Session Close: Wed Dec 29 13:58:57 1999
