He's a rather interesting character from what others have told me. Some seem to have a less than high opinion of him. You mentioned him in your thanks list, so I was rather curious of your opinion of him. yeah... well....i have both a good one and a bad one of him...the good is for the work he has done translating ff5...and som2.....i dont think it would have gotten done anytime soon without him although my personal experience with him..wasn't so great...at first he seemed interested in helpin me with the project..(ff3) and he started out by giving me a script dump to start with..but from there....that was it...he never seemed to reply to my messages...and when i finnaly did talk to him..he was rather immature..and not very friendly. I think that is because of his age...he was quite a bit younger...anyways because of our personal relations being as bad as they were he didnt wanna associate with me..and nor did i with him. What was your experience with the other groups working on FF3? Yeah. He left you a nice note in the .nfo file calling you childish or something of that nature. hmm...well lets see....i can start with akilla..i think that was him....well for the most part he wasn't very nice...i'll leave it at that...he first contacted me saying he was working on the same thing and why was i doing it. One of us..can't remember if it was me or him..offered that maybe we work together. That sounded fine to me....so i told him I would and wanted to start making arrangments on how we were gonna do that..Then he started looking at the patch I had already done..well me and my group..they definitely helped alot..and he started heavily criticizing it and was in fact criticizing me and trying to tell me how to do things. It was rediculous..i didnt need that from him..me and my group were doing this just for fun..i never gave out orders..i asked them what they wanted to do...and let them do waht they want..it was all for fun..and akilla seemed to see things differently...so that partnership failed as well...He also seemed very immature to me...he tried making it a competition...i didnt want that..it wasn't about competing to me...or the members of my group....so that was that...and for the remainder of the project things were bitter between him and i. Then there was Dislexic Japancheese or whoever they called themselves...I worked with a few of their staff members and they were nice people. They helped me for a little bit before concentrating more on their own patch. They were rather professional and mature and I respect them. I also dealt with Demi....I really don't want to get into that...he was a complete jerk....reminded me of a little kid bad mouthing me...my work..my group...everything he could bad mouth..luckily at the time i was almost popular and i put up some of the e-mails he sent me that were rediculous and the fans took care of him..he left me alone after that...yeah..well i think it was the other way around...he stooped to such lengths as to include it in his .nfo file...so thats proof in itself...I never attacked any other group ever...I always offered a hand in friendship and cooperation...and the point of view that it was just for fun...and wans't a job....or anything that had to be done... Did you see the fact that Demi had ASM hackers as a big determiner in the entire situation? I.E. did that put more pressure on you to work, or more cards in his hand to wave at you? well...at that time..there wasn't really much done with ASM hacking....it wasn't big yet when it came to ROM hacking..I was rather skeptical...and I hear alotta talk about his progress and how great it was going to be...I never believed a word of it because i never saw any proof...and he never showed any until long after i left the scene so I was right at the time. I really didnt think much of it and it didnt pressure me because From day one it was all about fun...It didnt matter if i finished..how much i did..or how well of a job i did...It was just somehting me and a few other guys did just for the hell of it....to make our small contribution to the emulation community...it wasn't competition to us.. Did you play the completed translation Demi and his crew put out? I played it briefly...just to see how it compared....As much as I don't like him...he did a decent job..but he never produced the masterpeice he kept spewing he would out of his mouth. The part we completed compared to his...were very similar..and it didn't impress me...he kept going on and on about how horrible ours was and how wonderful and perfect his would be...and it turns out he's not a master of perfection afterall.... i think he took it way to seriously... Have you followed much of whats been happening lately in the translation community? Not as much as I used to when i was involved in it. I still keep an eye on it and like to know whos doing what...but its different now that I"m not involved in it. From what you've seen, is it still what you remembered it being when you were involved? Definitely not....Its changed alot...when i started it was just becoming popular and it was still a hobby then. People did it for fun..there wasn't too many lamers out there...and there wasn't alotta competition..just a bunch of people havin a good time...now a days ever since ff5....its become alot worse...People demand this and demand that...they want this and want that..its like people are being paid to do this and they have deadlines to meet from the people..its rediculous...at least as of late...translations seemed to have lost a big of popularity and attention has been takin off them a bit so it may be starting to improve again. Do you regret not finishing the patch? Well.....sometimes i do...sometimes i don't....I would of liked to see the finished product...so I could have a bigger contribution to the emulation community because I really think emulation is a great thing and i'd like to see it become as great as it can be....however i ended it due to my car accident....so i had my reasons....but i dont regret it for the fact that it was just a hobby....and it didnt matter if it was done or not..and i contribute to the history of emulation in my own way. Well, thanks for letting me interview you for the article. You've been a great help in clearing up some of the other side of the story. It seems for the most part that the only people who stuck around were on Demi's team. Yep..i think the translation scene...became too much of a job..and dealines...and peoples wants then what it started out as....i think its the same as the emulator programmers.....and ultraHLE......and cases like that....well your welcome for the interview...i look forward to reading the finished article..it was a pleasure and good luck!
