AGES
  • Version: 0.27a
  • Homepage: http://www.emuitalia.com/ages/
  • Authors: | Quinntesson
  • Released: 2002-01-03
  • Info: AGES emulates not only Genesis and Sega CD, but also has 32X functionality. It's limited at this point, but it's something. Try it out if you're looking for an all-in-one approach.

DGen
  • Version: 1.21
  • Homepage: none
  • Authors: | Dave
  • Released: 2000-01-28
  • Ports Available: | MacOS | MS-DOS | Unix/Linux
  • Port Specific Info: DGen is a decent emulator for Windows. It has a nifty feature that allows 2 player split screen games, and some other advantages. It's not the best guy out there on the field, but it's certainly not bad.

Generator

Gens
  • Version: 1.70
  • Homepage: http://gens.consolemul.com/
  • Authors: | Stephane Dallongeville
  • Released: 2001-02-01
  • Ports Available: | MS-DOS
  • Port Specific Info: This is an excellent emulator for windows. It plays most roms, including the rarely emulated Warsong (Langrisser I). The latest version supports netplay. The emulator also now has preliminary Sega CD support! If you're looking for a solid Genesis/SegaCD emulator for Windows, look no further than Gens.

KEGA
  • Version: 0.02
  • Homepage: http://www.eidolons-inn.de/Kega/
  • Authors: | Steve Snake
  • Released: 2002-02-04
  • Info: KEGA is a newly-released Genesis/Sega CD emulator by established emu author Steve Snake, known for his KGen emulator. Apparently this emulator already has good support and is worth a try if Gens won't work for you.

MESS
  • Version: 0.37b13
  • Homepage: http://mess.emuverse.com/
  • Authors: | Ben Bruscella | Many Others | Nathan Woods
  • Released: 2001-04-08
  • Ports Available: | Acorn | MacOS | MS-DOS | Unix/Linux
  • Info: MESS is a beast of a project. It emulates, according to the MESS homepage, a huge list of systems. I got bored of counting them after about 130, but I think there are over 200 systems listed. Note, of course, that many of these are closely related. For example, Colecovision and Colecovision (Thick Characters) are listed separately. As far as TI calculators are concerned, it emulates the TI-85 (and lists 7 versions of it). It's an impressive project, but for virtually all of the systems it emulates your time would be better spent with one of the emulators that focuses specifically on the system that you are interested in.
