AmiNES is a very weak NES emulator for the AmigaOS. The basic emulation is incomplete, sound emulation is virtually non-existent, there are sprite errors, and many other problems. The emulator is dead, so don't expect a future.
BioNES
Win95/DirectX v0.2
BioNES has many good qualities, decent (and full) sound, all of the mappers that fwNES supports (tons), and is an overall decent emulator. If you don't have MMX though, don't expect much. The emulator is very slow, and has some other errors for those without MMX. If you have MMX technology, this emulator is worth using.
CoolNESs
AmigaOS v0.71
CoolNESs is a respectable NES emulator for the AmigaOS. It supports mappers 1 - 5, 7 - 11, 15, 16, 18, 19, 21 - 25, 32 - 34, 64-66, 68, 69 and 78. Overall it is a decent emulator, one of the better ones for the AmigaOS.

DarkNESs is an NES emulator for the AmigaOS. It is somewhat slow, and only somewhat worthwhile. Not really worth downloading currently with the other good emulators available for the AmigaOS.

This emulator really doesn't have much going for it. There is no sound, and it is slow, and it is overall very weak. There is really nothing good I can say about this emulator.

This emulator isn't too bad for the most part, it has average sound and the compatability isn't all that bad. Only problem is that with .nes roms emulation is weak. To have the full effect you need to use a strange format of ROM.

This emulator is fast, but is very weak in every other aspect. There is support for mappers 0, 1, 2, and 3, but the emulation is buggy at best. So basically, this emulator is nothing worth trying at the present time.

fwNES is probably the second best NES emulator. Although I still prefer Nesticle to is, the thing that puts fwNES on the charts is the fact that it supports a ton of mappers. There is support for mappers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 32, 33, 34, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, and 85. This is more than any other NES emulator that I know of. Because of this, fwNES can play more games than any other NES emulator out there. This emulator is certainly worth trying. For Linux it is the emulator of choice.

I suppose iNES is a decent emulator, although somewhat outclassed by emulators such as Nesticle. The Windows version is horribly crippled shareware. I have been unable to test many other versions to make comparisons.
LoopyNES

LoopyNES lives. Although I had previously marked it as discontinued, loopyNES has been revived. LoopyNES is a decent emulator. It has respectable speed, supports mappers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 15, and 64. There is now sound support. There is a GUI, zapper support, and joystick support.
MadNES

MadNES is a decent emulator, it has at least partial support for mappers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 10, 11, 15, and 16. There is sound support, albeit weak, and joystick support. Don't expect much yet, but with luck, things will continue to improve.

MESS is more that an NES emulator, the most important aspect of MESS's development is that it emulates not only the NES system, but also the Sega Genesis/Megadrive, TRS-80, Colour Genie, and Colecovision. Version 0.2b4 emulates the Apple ][ Series, Atari800, Atari5200, Bally Astrocade, Kaypro 2x, PDP-1, Sega Master System/Game Gear, and Vectrex as well. The emulator is still very weak, and doesn't have many good qualities as of yet, so as an NES emulator it has yet to succeed.
N'tendo

This is a very basic emulator, and it really doesn't even emulate yet. N'tendo can load a rom and display the header information. There are a few basic things this emulator can do, but don't expect it to play any games. I never really knew this emulator existed until paying a visit to Zophar's Domain.

This is a new emulator. Originally it was created for a school project, but once the class ended, it was released. There is a GUI, and a debugger. There is joystick support, but no keyboard support. There is no sound support as of yet.

I don't really know any specs on NESA. It's a dead NES emulator as far as I know. The source, however, is included in this package, which may be helpful to budding emulator programmers.

This is a fairly new emulator, but it supports mappers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 10, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 24, 32, 33, 34, 64, 65, 66, and 69, and runs extremely fast. Plus, two of the best features are the built-in tile and hex editors.

Version X.XX is shrouded in mystery, it seems to work fine, but download at your own risk. The single greatest emulator for the NES, no other emulator really comes close, Nesticle is in a class by itself. Some people say it is better than the NES console itself. Nesticle 0.43 supports mappers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15, 19, 22, and 23. It also has support for Game Genie codes.

DOS v0.58 Certainly one of the better emulators for the NES. It can't top Nesticle or fwNES, but it also has some good features. Nofrendo supports mappers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9, 11, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21, 22, 23, 32, 33 and 34. It runs quickly, and is an overall decent emulator.

Version 2.6b of Pasofami is nothing you should even bother with. In fact not very much is known about it, everything is in Japanese. If you know Japanese, perhaps you should try it out, but otherwise, no. The Direct X version 2.8c is very fast, and has lots of cool features. Still, however, everything is in Japanese. So unless you speak Japanese, pass this emulator by.

RockNES

In a surprise move by Fx3, the previously discontinued Xnes emulator was resumed, and later renamed RockNES. Although the emulator was actually the work of Nicolas Hamel, Fx3 has picked up the dos port of the emulator after almost eight months of inaction and has begun releasing new versions.
TOWNS-OS Famicom Emulator

This NES emulator is for the Japanese TOWNS-OS. It is extremely primitive, and tons of things are not supported yet. It also uses a bizzare rom format that makes it very troublesome. It is still a long way from being a 'good' emulator.

TNES has support for mappers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9 and 11. There is support for Game Genie codes, and joystick support. The sound isn't all that bad, but it isn't up to the the standard. It had potential, but hasn't been updated since it was first released at the beginning of the year. I am guessing that it is dead, although I would love to be proved wrong.

Ultimate NES really doen't have much to offer at all. There is support for mappers 2 and 3. There is partial support for 1 and 4. Not really anything worth talking about. So that's enough of that.

vNES64 is an NES emulator for the Nintendo 64, it requires that you have a copier such as Doctor V64 or the Z64. It is the only NES emulator I have yet seen ported to the N64, therefore it is the emulator of choice.

WinNES is a relatively new emulator, coded in Delphi, and therefore somewhat slow. The emulator supports mappers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, and 16. There is no music, only sound effects.
