School and Stuff
I will be going back to school this coming Monday. Starting my junior year of high school. Because of that, I will probably get all updates done in early afternoon as opposed to any morning hours. Power Outage Temporarily Downs Apocalypse

Apocalypse Sees the Light
The site has made a drastic and sudden change of flavor. It has gone from being the dark and foreboding site of appoaching evil, to the site that you see before you. The site is constucted with a mixture of intertwined HTML and JavaScript, and I'm sure there are some bugs. If you come across a problem with the site, you can send me a bug report to help me eliminate it. Enjoy the site, and expect even more from it in the future. Also, if you want to bookmark the page, be sure to bookmark the index.html page, as opposed to this page.

xNES Renamed
The xNES NES emulator for DOS has been renamed to RockNES in order to avoid confusion about what OS it is for. The change has been made on the emulators page.

8/22/98

Down Time
For probably the rest of today, and maybe into the next day, I will not be updating. There is a bright side, however, and that is that when I come back you can expect a whole new layout for the site. I mean, I am working on recreating this site to make it bigger and better. You see, school starts in a little over a week for me, and I want to get this site to the point where it can practically maintain itself before that happens. By August 31st I should have everything up to date, and should be able to keep up the updates throughout the school year.

\Firebug\'s Mapper Doc Updated
You can find version 0.80 of the mappers doc on the docs page.

Snes9x Windows Beta Fix

Even More Language's Added to Translations
I have added the languages of Russian and Romanian to the translations page. However, there were only two games in these languages.

Version 0.20a of NESemu Released
At some point during my sickness, a new release of the NES emulator NESemu was released. Here's what's new:

- Implemented mapper 8 (FFE F3xxx), mapper 11 (Color Dreams) and mapper 15 (100-in-1). (Mapper 8 support is untested)
- Fixed bug that prevented sprites from being displayed if the background was disabled (Ghosts'n'Goblins intro).
- Rewrote sprite code; sprite flipping in 8x16 mode is no longer buggy.
- Scrolling is no longer choppy in games that change HScroll value in the middle of the screen.
- Lots of code rewritten / optimized. NESemu is now much faster (This one's for you, 386 owners!)

You can get it on the NES emulators page.

Sickness and Such
Early yesterday I came down very sick, and was unable to do any updates on the site for the rest of the day. Hopefully I'm better now, and everything should pick up as usual.

Translation Page Redesigned
I have redone the translations page so that each language has it's own HTML file. This should make the page faster to load, and make it easier to differentiate between languages. I am happy with the current state of the translations page, and with the exception of now translations and updated translations being added, it is completed.

Many More Language Translations
I have added translations for the following languages:
- Portuguese
- Thai
- Italian
I also added a translation to English of Super Robot Wars 4.

New Version of Nesticle Released!!!
Suprisingly and suddenly Sardu has released another version of Nesticle. I know very little about this new version (vX.XX) and will supply more information when it becomes available. It seems to work fine, but for now download at your own risk. Get it here.

8/17/98

I have added the group AAGT (Adventure, Action Game Translators) to the site. You can find them on the links page, and added their translation of Rockman / Forte to the translation page.

MySNES 0.15b Released
MySNES is an SNES emulator for the AmigaOS. Here's what's new in version 0.15b:

- ROMs always loaded into FASTmem. Before it could often end up in CHIPmem for some reason.
- Hopefully removed bug that made MySNES hang up when loading a ROM. It now works for me when using MCP1.30 with FASTrom=on.
- Corrected a major mistake I had made in my DMA-handler. It assumed that only one channel was started at a time, so many dma-requests where left-out.
- Better tilecache which now detects ALL changes in gfx and makes the necessary tile updates after that.
- The texts in Zelda now come up and alot of background animations are now visible.
- Small fixes in hwregs.

You can download it from the SNES emulators page.

8/13/98

MESS Version 0.2 Public Beta
The DOS port of MESS version 0.2b4 has been released, you can find the latest version on the NES emulators page.

French Translations
Despite the fact that I speak no French whatsoever, I stumbled my way through several French translation sites, and added their translations to the translations page.

Losing a Platform
I will no longer provide emulators for the MacOS on this page. There are several reasons for this:
- The file types screw everything up for me
- The more time I have to focus on other platforms the better
- I have always been biased against the MacOS
So that just about sums it up. Sorry mac users, but you can still find everything you need at emulation.net.

Another Translations Update
I have added a few more English translations that I stumbled upon. These include:

- Y's II
- Tsubasa 1
- Radia

Be sure to check it out at the translations page.

8/12/98

Translation Page Updated Again!
I have added Spanish Translations to the translations page. This should complete the translations page for the time being, now I will move on to utilities.

Translation Page Updated
For the second time today, I have updated the translations page. Every Japanese to English translation I know of is now included on the page. These are the translations I added:

- Bahamut's Lagoon
- Burning Pro Wrestling
- Deep Dungeon IV
- Der Langrisser
- Dragon Ball 1
- Kid Niki 2
- Romancing Saga 3
- Super Fire Pro Wrestling X Premium

You can find this all on the translations page.

Thingy Version 0.95
Somehow, I'm not quite sure exactly how, I missed the release of Thingy v0.95. The latest release includes the ability to do script insertion. You can find v0.95 on the utilities page under general utilities.

Poll Complete
I have ended the current poll. A new poll will begin in the near future. To see the final results of the previous poll, either select 'current results' from above, or click here. I am taking suggestions for the next poll, you can send suggestions to jandar@iname.com

Plans for the Future
These are the things I plan to do in the near future for Apocalypse.

- Finish the general utilities section, which will complete the utilities overhaul I have in progress

- Add a section for frontends
- Touch up the emulators page and call it complete
- Whatever else comes to mind

That is what you can expect from Apocalypse Emulation in the near future.

- Treasure Hunter G
- Wedding Peach
- Final Fantasy 3j

Be sure to visit the translations page for the latest patches.

8/11/98

Translation Page Redesigned
I have completely redone the translation page. It contains the same translations, but is separated by title, as opposed to translation group. This should make it easier to find a translation for a specific game, and also easier for me to add translations not done by a large translation group. Look for quite a few new translations added in the near future. Check out the new and improved translations page

8/10/98

Four More Legal SNES Roms
You can find four additional roms on the roms page. These are all SNES roms, and pretty enjoyable games.

I have added a group of new NES utilities to the utilities section. Be sure to check out what's new.

8/9/98

Legal Roms Added
I have added a section to Apocalypse dedicated to Legal Roms for the NES and SNES. The section is still fairly small, the selection limited. But as I gather more legal roms, the archive will grow. Be sure to check out the Legal Roms page.

Zophar's Domain Returns!!
After a long break, Zophar's Domain is back up and running. Woo hoo!

Snes9x MacOS Added
I have added Snes9x for the MacOS to the emulators page. Be sure to take a look if you are a mac user.

Several New Emulators
I have added several more emulators for various ports. Particularly NES emulators for the MacOS, and some additonal ports of Snes9x. That should just about complete the selection of emulator ports. You can see the latest additions on the emulators page.

Links Page Updated
I have updated the links page with several more rom sites. Be sure to take a look at what's new.

8/8/98

Two More Snes9x Ports Added
I have added the Snes9x ports for HP-UX and FreeBSD. You can find them on the emulators page.

8/7/98

New Snes9x Windows Released!
Version 1.07 Build#17 of Snes9x Windows 95 port was released today! You can find it on the SNES emulators page. This is an unsupported beta. Don't expect too much, there is still a lot of stuff missing. It will only work in 16 bit color mode, and only saves SRAM. There is very little in the way of configuration dialogs. Unless you are really desparate, you should probably stick to the DOS port, but the Windows 95 port IS here if you should feel the urge to try.

Several New Emulators
I have added several more emulators for alternate platforms, particularly NES emulators. You can find them on the emulators page.

Emulators of Choice Section Updated
I have altered the Emulators of Choice section of the page to include emulators for other platforms. It uses JavaScript to return the exact information you want. Take a look at what's new for the Emulators of Choice.

Links Page Updated
I have changed the basic design of the links page, and eliminated those annoying images. There are a few new sites on the page as well. Be sure to check out the new and improved Links Page.

8/6/98

New Web Board!
I finally got sick of that free web board junk I had, and put one up locally. This one will be much faster, and should not go down as the previous one has a tendency to do. Be sure to check out the new board.

Several More Emulators Added
I have added several more NES emulators to the emulators page. Particularly NES emulators for the AmigaOS. Be sure to check it out.

8/5/98

New Version of BioNES
Version 0.2 of the NES emulator BioNES has been added to the NES emulators page. I'm not really sure what all is new in this release, but if you like BioNES, you must have this latest version.

More Emulators for Various Ports
I have added several more emulators for ports other that DOS and Windows. Particularly SNES emulators for the MacOS.

8/4/98

Kid Icarus Level Viewer
The utilities page has been updated with a small prog allowing you to view level information from the Kid Icarus game. You can browse the rooms, and watch as they are set up. You can't edit the levels yet, but that may come in a future release.

Several More Ports Added
I have added additional SNES and NES emulators for a variety of platforms. There are only a few additional NES emulators added, but I added quite a few more emulators for the SNES. You can see what's new on the emulators page.

8/3/98

Huge Site Addition Has Begun
The latest project I have begun is to add emulators for a variety of platforms, other than DOS and Windows, to Apocalypse. I have begun with several new platforms for several SNES emulators. This includes Unix and Amiga OS. There is much more to come. Keep your eyes open, and check back soon.

New Translation From the Spoony Bard
Version 0.9 of the Kero Kero Keroppi's Great Big Adventure 2 translation is out. You can find the patch on the translations page, or get it here!

New Emulator Page Layout
I have completed the new layout for the emulator page. The new design should make navigating the page much easier, and help you find what you're looking for much quicker.

SNES Emulator Archive Complete
I have completed the SNES emulator page with every SNES emulator I know of. Let me know if there are any I missed. The current layout of the emulator page is getting cramped with all the emulators. What I would like to do in the near future is find a more effective layout for the emualtors page.

Links Added to Utilities Page
On the utilities page I have added links to the official sites of the utilities. I know there are some I missed, for example, I completely misplaced the address of the page for Thingy. If you know of official sites for utilities that I missed, please contact me with the address.

Problems Fixed
Apparently many of the files on the documentation page became unavailable sometime yesterday. I have mended the error, and it should cause no further problems.

8/2/98

All About Me!
I finally got around to writing a little blurb about myself. If anybody at all is interested, you can read it here, and also see a couple of pictures. Yea!

Poll Results In
You can view the current results from the light-hearted, and almost completely unrelated poll by clicking here. Or, if your browser does not support javascript, view the results this way.

8/1/98

New Version of RPG Maker 2 Translation
You can find version 0.9 of the RPG Maker 2 Patch from KanjiHack on the translations page. Be sure to pick it up, the group claims that the translation will be 100% done by September.
