Fx3 of RockNES

PKT Paladin:
RockNES seems to be a very promising emulator. It supports many features including sound, Famicom DiskSystem games, and it has a wonderful GUI. What does the future hold for RockNES?

Fx3:
The future is unknown, I work on RockNES "just-for-fun" and to learn C (yes, the main reason I resumed xNes). When new info (of mappers or about the NES cpu, ppu) comes up, I usually add/fix as I can...

PKT Paladin:
What was your inspiration to write an emulator the NES? I understand it was to learn C and to have fun, but why not SNES or Sega's Genesis?

Fx3:
The start point was a day in an IRC session, when a guy had requested my help to fix his emulator, which was based on xNes sources. I helped him and it was being my 1st major C programming. Due the some problems, I decided to resume the own xNes instead to start a new project (I give credit to this guy until today and for ever). The 16 or any other videogame emulation would be a trivial question... I havenīt yet the ways to start something like a SNES emu (īcuz of a couple of reasons...)

PKT Paladin:
What part of the creation of RockNES do you feel was the most difficult or frustrating?

Fx3:
Itīs hard to say... the difficult part is to figure out undocumented stuff using software-only (I mean, not having a development kit to hack true hardware). Mappers are an example.

PKT Paladin:
What emulation goals do you have either for youself or for RockNES?

Fx3:
Always the best emulation, stable, compatible... thatīs it.

PKT Paladin:
Do you have plans to port RockNES to another OS, such as Macintosh?

Fx3:
Not for a while... But... anyone interested to port it, just contact-me :)

PKT Paladin:
Do you have an emulation role-model, such as another author?

Fx3:
I like all the NES emus... I have my own style... Hmm... but DarcNES is my pretty one.

PKT Paladin:
Do you have confidence that RockNES could be a legendary emulator, such as NESticle?

Fx3:
I hear some comments about... NESticle was the beginning, fast and able to debug/hack games using a nice interface: I guess this may reflect its current status of popularity.

PKT Paladin:
What is your favorite ROM to play on RockNES?

Fx3:
Ah... Super Mario! :) Mario 3.

PKT Paladin:
How did you feel seeing your emulator published on the internet in front of thousands of internet users fro the first time?

Fx3:
It was nice, I have some htmls saved in the disk showing RockNES being published in some emu-news sites. Cool :)

PKT Paladin:
Fx3, thank you for taking the time to answer some questions for us =).

Fx3:
Ok, no problem, any time.

PKT Paladin:
I wish you the best of luck with RockNES, and in it's current status, I believe that it doesn't have far to go to steal NESticle's crown.

Fx3:
Thanks :)
