12:51 - Hu-Go Releases - Jandar
Both the DOS and Linux versions of Hu-Go have been updated to version 1.29, and I've added them to their respective sections. Here's what's new in this release:

• Ability to dump images in order to gather them into a video file
• Joypad support under linux thanks to Lester Barrows
• Sources put in CVS form, I hope soon accessible trought public anonymous access
• Restructured sources

2:14 - RockNES updated! - SirYoink
The Mac version of RockNES has been updated to version 1.421. Get it at Richard Bannister's homepage or here. Thanks to the magic of cut and paste, here's what's new in this release:

• Implemented a substantial optimization to the Mac code, meaning RockNES is now about 15% faster than previous releases.
• Added PRELIMINARY Network Play (exclusive to the Mac version). Note, however, that while you theoretically can play over the Internet, this will not work unless both players have fast connections. On the other hand, this has been tested and does work over AppleTalk.
• Added support for frame skipping for those on slower Macs.
• Implemented Colour Emphasis mode (from the PC version). The games using this should no longer have completely messed up palettes.
• Added the ability to change the resolution to 640%480 in full screen mode. (2x mode fits nicely in this size).
• Synchronised the code with the latest changes on the PC side.

0:22 - z26 Release - Jandar
A new version of the Atari 2600 emulator z26 has been released, and I've placed version 1.40 on the Atari 2600 emulators page along with it's source code. Here's what's new in this release:

• z26 is now Windows 9x long filename friendly! I didn't really believe it could be done in a DOS program, but Michael Walden Jr. came up with a very cool way to show a game's long filename in the title bar of the GUI.
• We have expanded the ROM capacity of the GUI from 693 to 2772 ROMs.
• We have tried to automatically recognize all of the various versions of ROMs that are commonly available. So now, the paddle controllers are automatically turned on for all 5 versions of Breakout. And so on...
• If you run into any ROMs that aren't automatically recognized correctly, please let me know. Thanks.

23:45 - Laser Release - Jandar
A new version of the Multi-arcade emulator Laser has been released for DOS, and I've added it to our Multicade section. The only real change in version 0.12 is that the colors in the Space Invaders Deluxe game have been changed so that they match the colors from the game under MAME.

22:15 - SNEeSe Release - Jandar
A new version of SNEeSe has been released, and I've put it on our SNES emulators page. It can also be downloaded directly here. Here's what's new:

• Stability: Fixed a serious bug in the tile decoder that has caused crashes since the decoder was rewritten in 0.40
• Timing: Corrected an error in the CPU timing
• Interface: Added a fast-forward key (tilde)

A new version of Gens, a Genesis emulators for Windows, has been released, and I've added it to our Genesis emulators section. You can also download version 0.88 here. Here's what's new in this version:

• Country select feature added.
• Menu language support improved :
  • Menu is dynamically rebuild from language.dat file so it's very easy to add or change a menu language.
• English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Hebrew menu language are actually supported.
• Screen-Shot feature added.
• Direct Draw code modified :
  • 'Normal' and 'Double' render mode uses hardware blit in Fullscreen.
  • Screen Size x1, x2 removed in windowed mode because not usefull.
  • Screen refresh improved when emulation is paused.
• My 68000 core and MZ80 core are removed (RAZE and custom Starscream are accurate).
• Debugger rewritten for Starscream.
• Message drawing code rewritten.
• GENS becomes cardware.

Marat has released version 1.4 of his Linux and Solaris ports of MasterGear, a GG/SMS emulator. You can currently find the latest versions of this emulator on Marat's homepage until I get home from work and upload the files locally.

18:00 - RockNES X Release - Jandar
The Windows port of RockNES has been updated to version 1.42, and has been updated upon our NES emulators section. Thanks to EmuHQ for the news of the release, and here's what's new in this version:

• Windows 2000 bug solved!
• Small GUI problems fixed (now you know when the ROM is incorrect)
• Better noise emulation (by Fx3)

General CoolNES Translations (My group) has released a 100% patch for Hello Kitty's Flower shop (or Hello Kitty no ohanabatake) And yes, I did translate the game =). It's available in our Swedish translations archive

0:55 - SD Gundam Winner's History Translated! - SirYoink
SD Gundam Winner's History for Game Gear has been translated by Gaijin Productions. The translation is complete, but they may go back and make the font prettier. Get it here. Thanks to The Whirlpool for the news and the donuts.

A 100% translation of Chrono Trigger by Magno Traducciones, a new group with a single member, has been added to the Spanish translations archive.

23:34 - RockNES Release - Jandar
The RockNES homepage has been updated with a new release, version 1.420, and I've, in turn, added it to our NES emulators section. Thanks to EmuHQ for the news. Here's what's new in this release:

• Better noise emulation;
• Added an option in the GUI to save sprite ram within all informations for each sprite, like a text file;
• Added stretched mode, due the request (delete the old config file to setup this option);
• Minor optimization in the scanline blitter;
• Fixed some GUI options that were working when no game was loaded.

NeoSMS, a Windows Sega Master System emulator, has been released. Here's its current status:

• VDP -- 97% -- (Missing rarely used features. Some games still buggy)
  
• PSG -- 99% -- (Sound code is done! No speech yet.)
  
• FM -- 0% -- (Waiting on PSG to be complete)
  
• UI -- 15% -- (Many options not user selectable yet.)

NLMSX, a Windows MSX emulator, has been updated to version 0.30. Here's what's new:

• Solved a few bugs in the SCC emulation.
  
• Solved a major bug that caused a lot of stability problems.

12 October '00 : Sorry to give so few news currently...I had a school project until today. Futhermore, I've lost my HD last saturday.Nothing important (just several pc engine demos, I'll have to code a bit to reach the same level) since I had a copy of important sources.Anyway, that was the occasion to realize I had to keep things in a safer way. I discovered CVS, a wonderful tool for source revisionning and the ability to work at several people at the same time and to share sources trought the internet.So I was wondering if I could eventually use my machine as a server for source sharing all the time I could be online (currently 2-4h a day, from 6 p.m. GMT)...This way, people could grab latest sources anyway they'd like and even contribute...Anyway, I'll now use this system for avoiding breaking the sources before a release e.g.After having talked about my recent life, let's change of subject ...With several friends, we were thinking about the need for a pc engine ezine... That's a reason why I hadn't worked on Hu-Go! recently.So we have space, we have some scripts to handle this easily. We just lack design and a motivated people who could write down articles about all stuff around the pc engine (tests, cheat, history, anything ....) so if you're a pc engine fan wanting to give an hand, don't hesitate to write a mail.Ok, it's now time for me to get back to Hu-Go! coding ... :)

MagicEngine, a Windows Turbo Grafx 16 emulator, has been updated to version 0.97beta3. MagicEngine is a demo product, stripped of sound, and costs $16 to register. It is pretty much the best TG-16 emulator there is though.Here's what's new:

• a vsync option for super smooth scrolling
  
• user customizable video resolutions (320x240, 512x448, etc...)
  
• gamepad support in the GUI

That's why I added another one today for the Sega Master System game, Alex Kidd in Hightech World. Should you want to hack this game, it is your lucky day! This table, and many, MANY others, are available in the Tables Archive.

Marat Fayzullin released MasterGear v1.4, a Windows Sega Master System emulator. MasterGear is not freeware, but I will post what's new for anyone interested.

• Added many new command line options: -sg1000, -fm/-nofm, -drums/-nodrums, -eeprom/-sram, -static/-nostatic.
  
• Added YM2413 (OPLL) FM chip emulation (-fm/-nofm). It works best with MG-Windows midiOut sound drivers or MIDI soundtrack logging.
  
• Added option to simulate SN76489 (PSG) noise channel with MIDI drums (-drums/-nodrums).
  
• Added 93C46 serial EEPROM chip emulation (-eeprom/-sram). World Series Baseball and Majors Pro Baseball can save and load data now.
  
• Added special SG1000 mode (-sg1000).
  
• Added ability to load 8kB cartridges.

23:57 - DarcNES Release - Jandar
A new version of DarcNES was released recently, and I've added version 9a1011 to our Multi-console emulators section. Here's what's updated:

• Moved a lot of code common to the cpu6502 and cpu6280 core generators to a common file.
• Added cycle timing for IRQ and NMI to the cpu6502 core.
• Fixed some include guards not to be blatantly non-ANSI compliant.
• Changed the NES PRG-ROM mapping interface (this may break the following mappers (untested/insufficiently tested changes): 1, 9, a (10), 17 (23), 18 (24), 42 (66), 44 (68), 4e (78)).
• Fixed bug in NES mapper identification introduced in dn9a0916 (not that it could have been triggered, but still).
• Converted the NES driver to use the event scheduler.
• Moved sprite DMA handling from nes_ppu.c to nes.c.
• Gutted and rebuilt the NES PSG emulation (now with volume envelopes and frequency sweeps).
• Some general cleanup and silliness fixing.

23:49 - RockNES Release - Jandar
Another version (1.410), of RockNES was released yesterday, and I've added it to our NES emulators section. Here's what's new here:

• Added mapper #118 (IQS MMC3) driver, now YsIII - Wanderers from Ys and Goal! Two are playable
• Fixed FDS memory allocation and system startup, major cleanup/rewrite
• Fixed FDS image loading. Files with no header should be ok
• Added FDS image identification by the NINTENDO-HVC string, removed the old one by file extension (required only by images with no fwNES' FDS header)
• Fixed ROM load/free, squashed several mistakes
• Disabled MMC3 WRAM control, enabled from previous version.

20:49 - SwNES Release - Jandar
An update patch for the NES emulator SwNES was released, taking it up to version 0.25. In order to use this emulator, one must now download the full release of version 0.20, and then the update patch to version 0.25. The latest version is available from our NES emulators section. Thanks to EmuHQ for news of the release.

10:50 - RockNES Release - Jandar
Version 1.400 of RockNES has been released, and I've added it to our NES emulators section. Here is what's new in this version:

• Small mistakes squashed on FDS driver;
• Fixed FDS disk writes somewhat, no more 'ERRxx' problems;
• FDS images with no header present are loadable (you need .FDS extension);
• Fixed mapper #42, pirate MarioBaby works fine;
• Fixed frame-IRQs, now there's sound output in DragonQuest games;
• Fixed a possible memory leak problem;
• Added WRAM (bank at $6000) dumping;
• Removed some general junk, more minor changes that I don't remember...

16:16 - SNES9X fiX0red - SirYoink
SNES9x 1.30a for the Mac has been released. This version fixes the sound bug which I reported earlier. Get it here. It also requires Apple's CarobLib which can be found here. This library implements some of the great features of the new Carbon MacOS, most noticible of which are slowing down your Mac and using ram. :/

0:03 - A5200 Emulator - Jandar
I've added a new emulator for the Atari 5200, by the name of A5200. The latest release of this emulator, which just came to my attention today, is version 0.5a, and I've added it to our Atari 5200 emulators section.

23:53 - More Snes9x - Jandar
A minor update has been made on top of the release of Snes9x made earlier today. Version 1.32a of this emulator has been released, and it fixes OpenGL support from the previous release. So long as you don't use OpenGL mode, you shouldn't need to download this version if you already have version 1.32. I have, however, added this fixed release to our SNES emulators section.

0:21 - Snes9x Windows Release - Jandar
The Windows port of Snes9x, one of the best available SNES emulators, has been updated to version 1.32, and added to our SNES emulators section. The list of changes is extremely long, but you can find it on the Snes9x news page if you are so inclined. Yay!

0:14 - MacMAME Release - Jandar
Yet another release of a MAME port. The MacOS port of MAME, MacMAME, has been updated to version 0.37b8 as well, and can be found in our MacMAME section. It was released yesterday, and here's what's new:

• In sync with the DOS 0.37 beta 8 build. [Brad Oliver]
• Added support for Cabinet Marquee artwork in the front-end. Place a file called "marquees.zip" into the 'Cabinet Marquees' folder. [Brad Oliver]
• Expanded the number of screenshot packs supported. Valid zip package names are images.zip, images_0 through 99.zip and images_a through z.zip. [Brad Oliver]
• MacMAME is now built with CodeWarrior Pro 6. Please report any unusual issues as they might be compiler optimizer bugs. [Brad Oliver]
• Many internal fixes for the Carbon target. The Carbon build runs under MacOS X, but much work remains before it's acceptable. [Raphael Nabet, Brad Oliver]

A new offical version of MAME32, the Windows port of MAME, was released yesterday, and I've added it to our MAME section. The latest version available is 0.37b8, and the source code is also available.

18:13 - RockNES Bugfixes - SirYoink
Richard Bannister has released a bugfix to RockNES. The newest release, 1.304 , can be found here. The following bugs have been fixed:

• Added support for FDS images with no header.
• Added buttons for set disk and switch side (FDS disks)
• Added Insert Coin button for VS Unisystem games.
• Added Quick Freeze/Defrost (F9/F10 keys)
• Fixed the bug causing the '.' key not to work in the key configuration dialog.
• Fixed the bug that caused FDS images not to show up in the Open dialog after their type/creator was set to RockNES.
• Added window proxy icons.
• Tweaked the speed limiting code slightly.

22:31 - Sony Loses Round 3 Quickly - SirYoink
The third trip to court didn't last long before a ruling was made against Sony's appeal. The appeal was against an earlier ruling by a district court that Connectix's Virtual Gamestation did not infringe on Sony's copyrighted Playstation BIOS.

11:00 - Return of EPR - Jandar
An old site that was updated until June 1998 and then died, was the Emulation Programmers Resource (EPR). Just recently the site has been returned to life, and can now be found at it's new location. The site provides an archive of technical information for countless computer/console/handheld systems, processors, arcade machines, etc.. The site is still getting back up on it's feet at the moment, but hopefully we will see it continue to thrive once again.

18:46 - I'm not dead! - PKT Paladin
If I was it would be pretty strange that I would have the ability to update SGC. I have updated to include a new NES table for the game Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers. This game is very similar to Super Mario Brothers, except you play as chipmunks, and instead of jumping on top of things you throw crates and balls at them. Download it and enjoy it because it is available in the Table Files Archive.
