That jerk that runs Partial Translations told me to tell you all that the script errors plaging the final script for the past week or so have been corrected, or at least at this point it apears that way.
Partial Translations
NOTE: The opinions expressed by the poster are in no means representative of the rest of the SGC staff, although I think that Jandar has some personal vendeta against this Partial Translations guy. ;)
4:39 PM - Another lovely Aniversary - Neil_
Well, several sites have been talking about the first year aniversary of UltraHLE, most have ignored the first aniversary of UHLEFix. For those who aren't privvy to the story, the day after UltraHLE was released, a news story was posted on ZD about a program called UHLEFix The program, which advertized that it boosted performance for non 3dfx cards, actually was just a basic program compiled with space added to make it look legit. Instead of boosting performance, it mearly deleted several windows directories. The program was posted only on ZD, and caused several angry threads on the ZMD message boards. To celebrate, InVerse has put up a happy birthday page dedicated to this little program.

Here's the information about this latest release:
11:09 AM - Dragon Warrior Monster & Elation - Neil_
I just decided to share my overwhelming joy with all of you over my recent playing of Dragon Warrior Monsters. I am so excessivly happy about this... the sections of script Hoimin translated for the project I was working on with him and Weirdman_ match almost word for word the translation that Eidos released yeterday. Playing this game complete is like a dream come true for me, and despite a few things that irk me (like the short 4 letter names), I am in love with this game. I'd encourage you all to run out and buy a copy. Don't download the rom, buy the game. It's worth it. As for me, I'm off to play!!!

8:28 PM - EMDPMA! - Airety
A new section has been added to SGC. Not related to emulation whatsoever, it will mainly involve the insanity that we all know and love from the SGC staff and also plenty of Chu-Chu Rocket stuff, even the official EMDPMA comic strip! Don't check it out yet, but do sometime in the next couple of weeks, because I will do some work to it sooner or later.
9:04 AM - WakdHacks & WPJ - Neil_
Well, WakdHacks has put up a picture of some lovely ASM hacking by Lord Tech. Look at the pretty VWF! Also implemented was Text compression which means they will be able to fit in a lot more text without compromising accuracy!

5:14 PM - DGen Information - Jandar
The DGen site has been updated with some additional information on the emulator. Here is what they had to say:
If I were you I'd avoid playing Phantasy Star 4 on DGen - it has a problem where the screen blanks and the game crashes on some battles a fair way into the game. That would certainly annoy me if I was playing it...Haven't a clue what's causing it. I get a few e-mails every week about this. Other games with trouble are WarSong and Shining Force 2 I think. Regarding old versions and speed, any idea which was the best version in terms of speed? Speed seems to have really dropped between 1.00 and 1.19, but it's hard to say where the code was the 'best' (e.g. speed/compat tradeoff).
Thanks to Vintage Gaming for the news.
5:11 PM - MacMAME Release - Jandar
The MacOS port of MAME has been updated once again. It is now up to the level of the most recent DOS port. I'm currently in the process of uploading the latest version, and it will be available from the MAME section in the near future. Here's what's new here:

9:05 AM - News Bits - Neil_
I suppose I should clarify a few things, for those of you who have been e-mailing me with questions I didn't feel like answering. As of right now, RS3 is still in progress. I know that "The Prisoners" are supposedly 90% done, but do I give a fuck? No, not really. So, until they release a patch, we'll continue working on it. Second of all, I'm almost positive that disnes has left the group for "The Prisoners", but since I never received a formal resignation, or a response of any kind for that matter, he's still "in". As for the rest of us, believe it or not, real world and real work has been taking up 100% of everyone's free time, so nothing has progressed on any other project. Plans have been discussed as to when to re-initialize the work, but no specific dates or times have been settled on.

2:18 PM - Free Speach, Emulation, and Stupidity - Neil_
Lately, there's been a lot of fuss over the emulator known as "RAPE: Rather a Pokemon Emulator." Several sites have refused to post any news about it, in a futile attempt to force the emulator author to change the name. I for one find this completly disgusting. No, not the name, the little war people are creating to kill the emulator's name. No one had a problem with Nesticle, it's little testicle icon, or mascot Shit Man (present in all versions but x.xx). No one had a problem with NiNcest, the N64 emulator even though the readme and about box stated "Get sis or get out". What's the big deal with R.A.P.E.? "It offends people." Well, guess what? I'm offended by N64 warez kiddies. I'm offended by every single next gen console emulator. Maybe we should boycott all of them! Hell, why stop there! Lets ban CGB emulation too. The fact that people don't buy CGB games but instead just play the roms offends me. You know what? I'm sure Nintendo is offended by all Nintendo emulation. Maybe we should try not to offend them! I've got news for you people. Some aspect of emulation is going to piss someone off. Could be a company, could be a specific person, could be a group of people. Emulation is not mainstream. Emulation need not bow to political correctness. Emulation FOREVER. Free Speech FOREVER. Political Correctness NEVER. Consider this my rant for the week.

Until then, we just keep finding better and better ways to bring emulation to you, a little piece at a time.
11:44 AM - Snes9x Progress Report - Jandar
Snes9x is an emulator we havn't heard much of recently. Yesterday, however, an update was posted in the Snes9x Developers Journal that explained the delays and gave the following information on the continuing progress of the emulator:
- I'm currently in the middle of adding cheat code and cheat search dialogs to the Windows port, once that done, I'll make a release. The cheat code entry dialog is done, the cheat search dialog is in progress. After that, its OpenGL support.
- Other things coming up, in no particular order, are 3d card screen rendering, internet netplay support for the Windows port, investigate sound emulation problems, convert more the code to assembler and other random things that I can't think of at the moment.

10:48 AM - News Bits - Neil_

10:04 PM - Pretendo WIP - Airety
From the Pretendo page:
lalala. okay, a real update, albeit is a small one, it still counts. first on the list, if anybody remembers, i mentioned sometime in july that we would be starting our own 6502 core. well, strangely enough, i've re-acquired enough motivation to start working on it again, and it's comming along very nicely. it's written in C, and we expect it to be fast. oh yes, it will also be public domain! you may donwload the sources and stuff like that when it's ready..... hmm, we're making progress on pretendo as well... we added support for a couple more mappers, and changed a bunch of things internally... hopefully we'll be able to release another (faster) WIP version in a couple weeks.
10:02 PM - SPASM dk v.99 beta released! - Neil_
SPASM Development Kit is a full featured SNES ASM studio for performing ASM modifications to SNES roms written by Jay and Dinesquick. No, it won't do jack for you if you don't know ASM. However if you do know ASM and do regular ASM modifications to SNES roms, this thing will save you a lot of time. You can get it here
I'd update the utilities page, but I have a nasty migrane and am going to sleep now. Good night.
8:30 PM - Gens Release (0.14a) - Jandar
A new version of the relatively young Genesis emulator Gens was released recently. The latest version can now be found on the Genesis emulators page.
4:10 AM - Bleep! 1.04 Added :) - Chuwim
I forget this one. Neill Corlett's NSF player. I'm sure you already know about this one. If not, i'm going to tell you. This is Neill Corlett's NSF player , it's a plugin for Winamp, it's has a very easy to use configuration gui, so you can change things like the sampling rate and some other stuff. If you don't have this one.
Go get it!. NSF players
1:53 AM - Thingy32 now uploaded - Chuwim
Yep, i know.... too late. But now you can download it here. I will be updating it. Trust me. (i repeat... too late) heh.
Go get it!. General Utilities
12:46 AM - GBMB too! You need both. - Chuwim
Well not necesarily, but maybe you want to give it a try.GBMB gives you a large (1024 x 1024 tiles max) canvas on which you can draw tiles made by GBTD, which supports any tile size and color GBTD can handle. This can be used for map or level-design. It let's you define your own properties, with which you can manage extra storage for each location of your map. It will even keep track of default property values for each tile, making usage of properties a lot easier. Super-neat utilities, don't you think? Really cool if you want to make your own gameboy game.
Go get it! . Gameboy Utilities
12:05 AM - GBTD to the Gameboy section - Chuwim
Here's one,the Gameboy Tile Designer, this is a very very cool utility. You can design tiles in different sizes, including 8x8, 8x16, 16x16 and 32x32, both in standard Gameboy, as well as colors for the Super Gameboy and Gameboy Color. You can cut and paste tiles in and out of GBTD to other graphical programs, using the standard clipboard functionality under Windows. This means you can put any graphic-format you have inside you tiles.GBTD exports directly to RGBDS Assembly-source, Objectfile ("RGB1"), GBDK C-source, TASM Assembly-source, ISAS Assembly-source and flat binary, in a range of formats; it can also automatically add counters and compress the data, making conversion programs or editing by hand in most cases unneeded.
Go get it!. Gameboy Utilities
12:00 AM - I'm just sad... - Chuwim
Just the day i come to home i see i'm replaced... i feel bad. Anyway, even if i'm not mentioned as a staffer, i will keep uploading utilities. ... haw... i'm just sad..

11:06 PM - New "Article" - Airety
I have ideas. They usually don't happen because I never get around to it because I am not sure if they are worth the time. Well from now on I will share them, and if people feel they are worthwhile, voiced by e-mailing me or by using the message boardSGC will make them a reality.
The first has to do with NESticle Netplay. If you read it, please respond in some way. Even if you say good idea, or that is retarded, I definitely need to hear from you.
Thanks

A very minor update of the NES emulator Jnes has been done. Version 0.30a has been added to the NES emulators page. Here's what the author had to say about this minor update:
- revision 0.30a, fixed some NSF banking problems and an overflow problem with raw pcm that caused Jnes to crash in one game.
9:59 PM - Come Back 64 Release (somewhere) - Jandar
Retrogames is reporting that a new version of Come Back 64, the Commodore 64 emulator, has been released for DOS. However, the Come Back 64 page seems to have temporarily vanished off the face of the earth. As soon as I am able to access the site again, I will upload the new version.
11:53 AM - Magic Engine Beta 3 for Mac - Airety
Hmm. . . we didn't have it. So I put info up, and Jandar will upload it later. Here's what's new anyways.
icon support; MagicEngine now attaches an icon to PC Engine ROMs and can be started by simply double clicking on a ROM file
support for hardware blit using DrawSprocket (enabled from the pce.ini file with the 'zoom' option); note that if you machine doesn't support hardware blit this option will slowdown the emulator a lot

10:43 AM - WinEMU Release (C16/Plus4 emulator) - Jandar
A new version of WinEMU, the C16/Plus4 emulator for Windows, has been released. You can download this version here. Also, I have included this emulator on the C64 emulators page despite the fact that it does not emulate the C64. It emulates systems that are in what I consider the same family as the C64, and thus this was (I feel) the best place for it. Thanks, once again, to Emucamp for the news.
10:35 AM - Calypso Release (Beta 11) - Jandar
A new version of the SMS emulator Calypso has been released. The latest release, Beta 011, has been updated on the GG/SMS emulators page. Thanks go to Emucamp for the news.
10:27 AM - NLKE Release (O_o) - Jandar
Here's an emulator we havn't heard much from in a while. NLKE, an SNES emulator that seemed to be very promising at one point, and then sort of dropped off, has been updated recently to version 0.5b. The latest version has been added to the SNES emulators page. This seems to be a very major release. Some huge advances have been made, and some major obsticles overcome. Here's is the complete list of what's changed in this version:

10:47 PM - Thingy32 v.10 - Neil_
As I made mention of below, a new version of Thingy32, ZackMan's win32 port of Necrosaro's Thingy v.98 has been released. We now have the actual program (if you didn't read the post below, don't ask. long story). =)

9:10 PM - Acorn/RiscOS Emulators - Jandar
The next in our series of emulator sections has been completed. As of now, the Acorn Emulators Section is unvieled. I'd also like to take this opportunity to give a big thanks to Archaic Ruins, who has the only other archive of emulators for Acorn/RiscOS (that I know of). So that is where I got much of the information that went into the creation of this section. RiscOS users (wherever you are) rejoice.
8:47 PM - Come Back 64 DOS Release - Jandar
The Commodore 64 emulator Come Back 64 has been updated. Version 0.9C was released recently, and was followed a short time later by version 0.9D, which fixed bugs in the sprite draw method. Version 0.9C contains the major changes, and the author said the following about it:
Major fixes include fixes with the sprite code (fixes games like Detective and Mayhem), the Sound Blaster volume is also fixed. There are also cosmetic changes and INTERLACE mode is now off by default.
The latest version has been added to the C64 emulators page.
7:22 PM - Impact Release - Jandar
Many people have been in great anticipation of the release of the multi-arcade emulator by the name of Impact. At long last, the first public release of the emulator has come. It's only a beta release, and you may have to expect some problems with it. The site also reported that "since it's a Beta you should expect some glitches and other problems. Crashes might also occure but nothing serious." Download Release 1 either here or from the Impact Section.
5:06 PM - Online MSX Emulator - Jandar
M.E.P. has posted Java based MSX emulators for many different games. This allows you to play the games online without downloading an emulator for it: the emulator is the java applet. I've tried a few of them, and they work very well.

Nitro has released a new version of his SPC player, ZD-SPC, and you can find the latest version on the SPC Utilities page. The following is a list of changes in version 2.4:

Good morning emulation community! Welcome to the first full week of the new year. I've only got two news bits to fill you all in on, but they're both rather interesting. ;)

6:29 PM - Save State Editors - Jandar
A little something I whipped up for the new year, and the addition that Airety mentioned earlier today, is a set of Save State editors that I have added to the utilities here on SGC. It's a bit of a new years gift.

9:42 AM - Hmmm. . . - Airety
Right now the counter reads 100147. . . even though when I left last night we had just hit 96000 or so. Jandar claims he didn't tamper with the counter.
So I am left to thank Neil_ for his translations wars article. . . and I can't be lazy.
I am traumatized. I was almost sure it wouldn't happen, but it did. So as of now, I can't be lazy.
9:14 AM - News Bits 2000 - Neil_
