15:32 - Laser Birthday - Jandar
Laser, a multi-arcade emulator, which we have in our Multi-arcade emulators section, has been around for a year, as of yesterday. Also, this seems to mean that we will see another release of this emulator in the near future. The current version is version 0.15.

21:50 - Life is Good... - Heero_Yuy_
Yes it is.

• First off, there's a new Treasure Hunter G patch from Metalhawk. Take a look, this one translates everything up to the Iraato Forest.
• I've added the latest Der Langrisser patch to our archives, from No Life Translations. This one translates up to scenario 20 of the light path of the game, with previous errors in scenario 17 having been fixed.
• And finally, Unstable Translations has updated, and is far from dead! Their projects are still chugging along, most notably Super Robot Wars, which is fairly close to completion. To see what else they have in their bag of tricks, head on over to their site and take a look!

16:24 - Nester Public Beta 4 - Jandar
Public beta 4 of the NES emulator Nester has been released, and I've stuck it upon our NES emulators section. Here's what's new in this release:

• new webpage and email address!
• new CPU, APU cores from Matt Conte
• 16-bit sound support
• keys 0-9 now available, use Ctrl-# to select savestate slot
• mapper 24 support (VRC6/Castlevania 3j) (thanks to TAKEDA, toshiya)

8:34 - G-NES Release - Jandar
I've updated our NES emulators section with the latest version of G-NES. The latest English version is now 0.473a, while the latest Japanese version of the emulator is 0.475. I don't really know what is new in this version, but I can thank Retrogames for the news.

21:10 - MacMAME Release - Jandar
Version 0.37b11a of MacMAME has been released, and added to our MAME section. Yay yay yay!

20:55 - Jnes Release - Jandar
Also, beta 2 of Jnes was released. That would be, in full, version 0.40b2. It's available in our NES emulators section, and here are the improvements:

• Put a cap on direct input error handling during game play
• Rewrote some window handling routines for full screen
• Fixed a bug in the window size menu-check handling
• Initialized the task variable to zero correctly, hopefully this fixes problems people experienced with save states doing odd stuff!

20:51 - RockNES Release - Jandar
Version 1.703 of RockNES for DOS has been released, and I've added it to ye ol' NES emulators section. Here's what's new in this release:

• Fixed savestate code to suit big-endian byte order (the MacOS);
• Fixed EAGLE blitting (removed debug junk);
• Fixed sprite ram data overflow (oh boy);
• More fixes to MMC5 (IRQ is working again, sorry).

19:04 - Signs of Coming Attractions... - Heero_Yuy_
Today, DeJap Translations released 6 SPC files from Far East of Eden Zero, promising that more would follow once the game is emulated correctly! They're some pretty cool samples, so get it here from our SPC File Archive, and enjoy! If you need an SPC Player, get one from our SPC Utilities Archive, and get a program like WinRAR if you need a tool to extract the files from the RAR file.

21:33 - AGTP Update! - Heero_Yuy_
Yep, yet more good news from AGTP!

• Chaos World : "Should be done sometime in the near not-that-far-off future," as quoted directly =).
• All of the formatting on Ys IV is finished, and Gideon got the final 5K of the script dumped and sent to akujin for translation. Should also be done fairly soon, as well!
• Gideon is no longer working on translating the bad checksum version of Dezaemon, because it came to his attention that the good sum version is now supported by SNES9X. He says about two weeks till completion, but that comes with no guarantees.
• Stealth of Stealth Translations is helping Gideon learn how to make the giant 16x16 fonts into 8x16 fonts for Nazo Puyo 2 and Gundam G. Alexander Beetle has been enlisted to translate Gundam G, so we should see some good progress on that as well ^_^.
• As for Super Robot Wars 3, the text translation is getting very close to being complete. Speaking of SRW3, there is a mystery quote on the AGTP Homepage. Take a look, and if you know what it's from, you could win a betatester position for SRW3! So by all means...

21:32 - Audio Overload! - SirYoink
Richard Bannister has just released Audio Overload 1.0! The program, which is the only game music player for the Macintosh, was formerly known as BNSF. It now plays NSF, SPC, and GYM files.

21:12 - News Bits - Heero_Yuy_

• Things seem to be going well over at WakdHacks, because LordTech has updated, boldly stating that if all goes well, Wonder Project J should be out in a month or so! Booyah! Check their site for details.
• Also, Tiger Claw released a GIF of some screenshots from his in-progress Rudra no Hihou translation! This after J2e formally announced they're working on the project, too! Perhaps competition between the two will be better for the whole scene, as in this case it may be done faster. Thanks to the Whirlpool for the news and the screenshots!

13:45 - NLMSX Release - Jandar
Version 0.33 of NLMSX has been released, and I've added it to our MSX emulators section. Thank, Frits, for the email =). Here's what's new in this release:

• Added support for the YM2413 (FM-PAC). Thanks go to Mitsutaka Okazaka for the excellent YM2413 emulation
• Changed MSX2 and MSX2PLUS configurations. Both configurations now support the FM-PAC in slot 3-0.

That's right! DeJap, in collaboration with Final Translation and Terminus Traduction, have released two french ToP patches! There are two available for download, Version A which was done by Final Translation, and Version B, done by Terminus Traduction. Take a look at both!

21:43 - Langrisser II 100* Alpha!! - Heero_Yuy_
All right! A complete (or darned close to it) translation for Genesis! Hiryuu Honyaku has released their final version of the awesome Genesis strategy game Langrisser II, which all of you should download and play =). Everything is translated except for the endings, which HH needs help with. Apparently, they weren't able to find the ending texts in the ROM, and need the help of an ASM hacker in order to root it out. So if you have a knowledge of ASM, help these guys out, because this game is well worth the effort! Enough of my rambling, just get the patch and play it, already!

16:41 - MasterGear - SirYoink
Emulation.net has been updated for the first time in a few months, and along with the update came MasterGear version 1.4. You can download it on the Game Gear/Master System section. From the site: "This version features improved GameGear video quality, has more accurate sound emulation, supports 2xSAI/EAGLE video enhancement, and is accelerated for multiprocessor Macs!"

The Mac demo version of Magic Engine has been updated to version .98. You can get it here. This is the only PCE emulator on the Mac which supports cds, but the demo is somewhat limited you have to register to get a version with sound support.

A minor update has been made to the RockNES emulator, and now version 1.701 is available from our NES emulators section. This small update fixes the "new directories configuration." Yay!

A lot of news has showed up so its my duty to steal it all from The Whirlpool and report it here!

• First off, some J2e Translations news for you! They released version 1.00 of The Violinist of Hameln, which is a really weird, cool game. So check that out but also watch for updates on Rudra no Hihou, as it looks like this is a new J2e project because they posted a screenshot of a small text hack to the game shown here!
  
• No Life Translations in cooporation with Hiryuu Honyaku and D-Boy have released another patch to Der Langrisser! They consider this to be a public beta so if you find any bugs or errors then report it to Moon Knight "ASAP".
• Metal Hawk's Translation Nest has released a small patch for Treaure Hunter G for SNES. Now the second town is translated! So go grab this patch, and the Der Langrisser patch, AND the Violinist of Hameln patch at our ever growing English Translation Archive!

13:07 - RockNES DOS Release - Jandar
The DOS port of RockNES has been updated to version 1.700, and I've added it to our NES emulators section. There is a rather long list of changes in this release, the entirety of which you can find on the RockNES homepage. Some changes include added ZIP support, improvements to mappers 5 and 33, fixes to mappers 4, 21, 68, 160, and 235, and he fixed pAPU timing.

Version 0.82 of Handy has been release, as well as the usual Developers Version to parallel it. The latest version of this emulator has been added to our Lynx emulators section. Here are the "highlights" for this release:

• Drag and drop of cartridges to main lynx window or Icon
• ComLynx works for Championship Rally
• Awesome Golf buttons working again.

Version 1.4.8 of VisualBoy, a gameboy emulator for Windows, has been released, along with a version for DirectX 7. The latest version of this emulator can be found in our Gameboy emulators section. Here's what's new in this version:

• MBC3 clock reworked and now updates correctly even after not playing (Pokemon Gold/Silver)

5:32 - Swedish tranlations news - Scotcher
The first RPG in complete swedish was released and it's Final Fantasy 1 and also an updated version of Hello Kitty's Flower Shop has been released and this patch actually works! (The last one didn't). Now.. if only we could get a SNES game in 100% swedish sometime... =)

19:13 - Hanagumi Taisen Columns 2 - Patrick Higgins
D-Boy which some know as Shadow, has come out of the dark after nearly 4 years of absence and released some info and a juicy screenshot on the first ever Dreamcast translation attempted! 2:25 - DRYMOUTH! - SirYoink
Drymouth is a super 1337 puzzle game coded by Demi. Apparently, he's decided to release a romh of it, which can be found here. Thanks to Donut for the news. I should probably stop playing it now and go to sleep, but anyone who's still awake should download and play now!

22:53 - Xmame/Xmess Release - Jandar
Version 0.37b10.1 of Xmame/Xmess has been released, and this version does, in fact, include both Xmame and Xmess, unlike some other recent releases. It can be found in our MAME section, and also on the Xmame/Xmess homepage. El knowledge of mine here comes of EmuHQ. Danke!

20:53 - FinalBurn Added - Airety
FinalBurn is a Multicade Windows Emulator. It supports After Burner, Galaxy Force, and CPS2. Here's what's new for the latest version:

• Triple buffering in fullscreen mode! For those who don't know what this does, triple buffering allows a 'clean' update of each frame of graphics, without any image tearing. End result - fast moving images look better. It's like WaitVbl or VSync, only it doesn't slow down the emulator at all. Triple buffering is supported on most modern video cards, but if it fails to init for any reason, the emulator will just do the graphics the old fashioned way.

20:14 - DirectEd v.997 - Airety
And I quote:
Version .997 is out! New In this version is file comparing tile-by-tile rather than byte-by-byte. Also new in this version is the addition of an ini file which tells DirectEd which mode to start in! The biggest improvement is the addition of RGB palette sliders. So, if the default palette doesn't lend itself well to the ROM you're hacking, you can alter it at will. YAY! As always, details are in the readme. My winter break is drawing to a close, so this will likely be the last you see of DirectEd for a while.

A couple of new patches! Enjoy!

• I've added the newest Der Langrisser patch to our English Translations Archive. This patch, from Warui Toransu, translates everything up to scenario 17 of the Light path. Also check out their new site design, which looks more organized, functional, and professional.
• Also, Gaijin Productions has released a nearly-complete patch for Magical Chase, a game for the Game Boy color system. Everything is done except for one japanese character, which they couldn't find in the rom. Oh well, good enough for me. =)

11:18 - ParaMSX Release - Jandar
Version 0.31 of ParaMSX has been released for Windows, and can be downloaded in our MSX emulators section. Here's what's new in this version:

• Fixed Minor bug in VDP timing.

6:10 - SD Gundam Knight Story Progress! - Heero_Yuy_
Yep, Sheex updated his page with some encouraging news. Progress on SD Gundam Knight Story 1 has been going "Super fast, as of late." Zackman has been burning through the revised scripts, and from the look of the newly added status page, it's going quite well. Check out Sheex's Realm for details. He also mentioned that SDGKS1 would be InVerse's last project related to The Scene, which is a real shame. But we wish you luck in the future, InVerse!

22:26 - DeJap Update! - Heero_Yuy_
Some news from DeJap Translations!

• Definite progress is being made on Tales of Phantasia, and the Beta 2 patch should be released soon. The Beta 2 patch, despite its name, will be very different from the first beta release before it. Dark Force says that it should look very professional, even though they still want to do some work with it, such as adding subtitles for the spoken japanese, expanding the monster names, 7 letter character names, and more script revisions. But expect the Beta 2 version to be out very soon.
• Also, Dark Force has been working with John Weidman and zsKnight on emulating games that have specialized chips such as the S-RTC (Daikaijyu Monogatari 2), SPC7110 (Far East of Eden Zero, Momotaro's Happy Train), and the infamous SDD-1, which is a graphics compression chip that makes Star Ocean and Street Fighter Alpha 2 practically unplayable on emulators. Some progress has already been made, and with such talented people working on them, it's only a matter of time before the mystery of how they work is solved. Stay tuned!

Some happy happy translation news!
Toma has released a minor bugfix release of his Glory of Heracles 2 translation. You can now find version 1.3 from our English translations archive. Basically Toma just fixed some problems that he found in the translation to make it more correct.

1:07 - NLMSX Release - Jandar
Version 0.31 of NLMSX has been released, and I've added it to our MSX emulators section. Here's what's new in this release:

• Added support for ASCII 8Kbyte and ASCII 16Kbyte MEGAROMs.
• Rewrote a lot of code regarding the configuration management.

15:27 - G-NES Release - Jandar
Version 0.47 of G-NES has been release, as well as the Japanese version with the same features. The latest version of this emulator can be found within our NES emulators section. Yay!

21:30 - Cless Opens up Shop! - Heero_Yuy_
That's right, on the CTC Board, Cless announced the opening of his site, dubbed Phantasian Productions, at http://cless.romhacking.com/. Phantasian Productions will be working on translations of the PSX port of Tales of Phantasia, and Tales of Phantasia : Narikiri Dungeon. Head on over and take a look!

19:06 - Swedish translations news - Scotcher
I added some new translations: Kabuki Quantum Fighter, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Blue Shadow, Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Mega Man 2 again and Sanrio Carnival 2. And an updated veriosn of Shadow Warriors, all these game are for the NES. And a swedish translation group with 100% girls will soon be formed! %YAY!%
