5:02 PM - Happy 18th Jandar - Airety
More fame to you. . . anyone with birthday wishes to our Head Chu Chu Rocket please leave them on the ApocEmu Message Board. I'm sure he'll read them when he comes back.

This is from the whole staff, so don't expect a post from everyone saying happy birthday over and over so it looks like we're doing work. (I can't believe I actually shot that down.)

9:20 AM - Today's Table - PKT Paladin
Today's new table file is for the game R-Type on Gameboy. Do I really need to say I'm working on the NSF's section too? =) Anyway, enjoy!

7:46 AM - Today's New Table File - PKT Paladin
Today's new table file is for the NES game Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. If anyone actually wants to edit the text in this game, feel free to download the Thingy-compatible table at the table files section! Now, I am going to figure out why I am awake this early...

10:52 PM - Awesome Website - Airety
Visit Vintage Commercials.
This page is so incredibly awesome. It has tons of old. . . old commercials from the Atari, Collecovision era that absolutely made me laugh my ass off. . . I even remember some of them!

If you are an enthusiast, you definitely have to visit that site.

3:42 PM - New Table File - PKT Paladin
I'm not going to let Jandar down while he is away for the week, so I will update each day with a new table file until he returns. Today's table file is for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of the Lance. Also, I am working hard on the NSF section, and I hope to have that done soon, but I can't make any promises.

3:02 PM - RockNES v1.090 - Airety
Somewhat recently the new version, 1.090, was released. Now if my HTML hasn't rusted to uselessness, I will show you what's new.

Hope that worked :) You can grab it on the NES Emulators Page

5:39 PM - Temporary Departure - Jandar
As I tend to do every summer at some point, I'm going out of town for about a week. Well, this means the updates of SGC may very well suffer for the next 6 days until I return home next saturday. Also during my absence, I will be having my 18th birthday on June 30th while I am away (there was my 2 seconds of fame). Anyway, hopefully the rest of the staff members here at SGC will step in and take care of the things that I normally would handle. Have fun guys =)

1:54 PM - News Bits - Heero_Yuy_
Exactly as stated above. =)

  • First off, Dragonball Z Game Translations Has released a Version 1.1 Patch For DBZ Hyper Dimension. 1.1 was released shortly after 1.0, as 1.0 had several miscellaneous bugs.

  • Prez has finally decided on a new name for his site. Instead of Romhacking Saga, it's now Prez's Standard Output and he's on track with a new project, Bloody Warriors for Famicom. He's currently looking for a translator to translate the game's 16K of text (kinda dinky for an RPG) so if you can help, let him know.

  • Necrosaro has left an update about Madou Monagatari. He says that the project is going smoothly, and that Bansama finished translating the script, and is now halfway done proofreading it. Thanks to RPGd for the news.

    2:29 AM - Hu-Go Source Release - Jandar
An updated version of the source code for Hu-Go!, a TG-16 emulator, has been released. Most likely we will see the binaries updated as well in the very near future.
    Sleep is good.

3:29 PM - New Table File - PKT Paladin
I felt guilty for not working on the NSF section yesterday, so I put up a new table file for Villigust (the english translation) on the NES. I know that this probably won't make up for it, but if you've wanted to edit Villigust's text, today's your lucky day! =)

10:59 AM - WinSMS Plus Release - Jandar

12:43 PM - New NSFs - PKT Paladin
To prove I have been doing work, I've updated the NSFs section with 41 new games. I don't have a list, but I'm sure nobody wouldn't mind checking the section to see if the game they want is in there. During the next few days I'll be working hard between this and my two spanish translation projects, so if you're a big fan of NSF music, keep a look out for updates to that section.

10:06 AM - Virtual Gameboy Releases - Jandar
While I'm actually a little bit behind on this news, Marat recently released version 1.7 of his Gameboy emulator, Virtual Gameboy. Version 1.7 is available for FreeBSD and Solaris, and I have also updated the Linux version to 1.6. The files can be found within our Gameboy emulators section. 1:39 PM - Just Breed? Just Breed. - Heero_Yuy_
A previously unknown romhacker called my_name_is_mud posted news on the Whirlpool message board that he's begun work on a game called Just Breed (don't ask me about the odd name), an Enix RPG for the Famicom. Seeing how Enix always throws a monkey wrench or two into their code seemingly just to infuriate up-and-coming romhackers, it could prove tough, but mud's already hacked some of the menus, so obviously he's not having too many problems. Also, on his homepage he mentions that he has other projects lined up as well, such as Rygar, Super Hydlide, Burning Heroes, and Treasure Hunter G. Only time will tell...

    12:39 PM - RockNES Release - Jandar
Version 1.080 of RockNES has been released, and I've added it to our NES emulators section. Here's what's new in this release:

11:49 AM - New NSF / Tables Maintainer.. Me! - PKT Paladin
Hi! I'm the new NSF / Table file maintainer for the Snakeyes Gaming Corporation, and my name is PKT Paladin. If you don't know me, you'll get to know me by recognizing the guy that hangs around the message board all day and posts nothing useful. All of this morning I have been working hard to get SGC up-to-date with the table files on this site, and I'm happy to say that I've been quite successful, as you can see on the Tables page. I haven't worked on an NSF updates yet, but they will be next in my reign of updates. If you have any questions or problems relevant to Table files or NSF files, e-mail me: PKT_Paladin@yahoo.com. Enjoy the new tables, and if you have any tables that aren't on this page, I'd be glad to make them available for everyone to download.

A couple of translation patches have been released as of today, and I've added them to our English translations archive. Here is the rundown:

3:08 PM - Some Problems Today - Jandar
Well it appears that jandar.net is having some CGI problems today, meaning you may have trouble accessing the translation archives and several other portions of the site. It also means that the news message I am typing at this moment may or may not actually be posted. The problems will certainly be temporary and hopefully short-lived.

    3:05 PM - DBOY 0.62 Released - Jandar
Version 0.62 of the Gameboy emulator DBOY has been released and added to our Gameboy emulators section. I don't know what's new, but any information out there is probably on the DBOY homepage.

12:36 PM - New Mac GB Emu - SirYoink
A new Mac Gameboy emulator is in the works. Derek Smith is programming a new emulator. In his own words:

This project is an attempt at writing a GameBoy emulator in FutureBasic3. So far, the project emulates a few games well, draws gibberish for others, and gets frozen on the rest. I have played through the first couple levels of Kid Icarus with this program, so, yes, I'm having some success with this project.

There is support for battery sram, but right now it's only read in, not saved. Freeze and defrost will be supported once I get some decent compatibility. Sound support is planned, though my experience in sound emulation is limited to simple FM waves, so I may be in over my head with that part. Color GameBoy support is being added as well though such support is likely to be half assed until I can do more research. There is no target CPU and speed that I am aiming for. I will optimize until I run out of ideas and then whatever it runs on, it runs on.

Keep an eye on his homepage and SGC for info when the emu is released.

    11:54 PM - Gens Release [0.73] - Jandar

The German translation group G-trans has returned from their hiatus, and is hard at work on a more German translations. Thanks to Bunga for informing me of their return, and sorry about that delay in reporting the news Bunga =). Also, the group has started a project to translation SD3 into German. BouKiCHi recently released version 0.61a of his gameboy emulator DBOY. I've added this version to our Gameboy emulators section. Funny, I thought that this emulator was discontinued a while ago..oh well, it's certainly good to see it being heavily worked on again.

10:35 PM - Neil_ and his Widgets... Heh heh. - Heero_Yuy_
A minor update from Partial Translations. Neil_ finally reveals why the Dragon Quest 5 project has been held up so long! Well, it's because DQ5's text engine is very *ahem* uncooperative and it gives you an error (Clearly stated in a direct "ERROR" dialog box) whenever it doesn't get the correct number of line ends or anything else it didn't expect. Neil_ has been creating a program to deal with this problem, but whenever a bug in it is corrected, another one pops up. That and the whole strange deal about Widgets O_o... Go to his page and check it out.

Version 0.61 of the NES emulator DBOY has been released, and I've added it to the Gameboy emulators section. Because all information regarding this emulator is in Japanese, I don't really know what is new in this release, but more information can be found (in Japanese) on the DBOY homepage.

    2:08 PM - NES Translations - SirYoink
In the last stage of trying to update the translations that we didn't have in the archives, I've updated the NES english section. Yandar beat me to Galivan, but I've added the following other translations:

    8:09 PM - Translation Search/Main Page - Jandar
As you must have noticed by now, I've added a form to search the english translations archive to the main page of the site. I'm really sort of tossing around in my head different ideas for location of the form, but right now it can stay where it's at. Also I need to fill that extra spot up top that I created. I'll find something fun to fill it with =)

    6:14 PM - Gens Release [0.7] - Jandar
Version 0.7 of the Genesis emulator Gens has been released, and I've added this version to our Genesis emulators section. I am just so very descriptive in these updates..heh..but anyway, here's what's new in this release:

    9:37 PM - News Bits - Heero_Yuy_
Dehydrated and shrink-wrapped for maximum flavor retention!

  • First off, I want to get some old buisiness done. On the 5th, Gideon Zhi of AGTP posted some screenshots of his project, Future Soldier : Lios, on the Vale message board. They look pretty sweet (especially that title screen hack he's been working forever on. ^_^ Take a look...

  • Firey Translations has updated, stating that they've begun work on Dai Kai Juu (Big Shell Monsters) and that most of the menus have been translated. Go check out the screenshots on their page. Thanks to the Whirlpool for this tidbit.

  • Some news from X Translations... About 70% of Daiva, a Famicom strategy game, has been translated and a patch release could come very soon. They also had news about Beasts and Blades, a little heard of SRPG for Super Famicom (where the heck do all these unknown games come from?). Work is progressing, and personally I'm pretty eager to see the results of their work. ^_^

Thanks to Vintage Gaming for the news. I don't really know what's new in this version because of all related information being available only in Japanese.

    5:15 PM - Articles - Airety
You know, I like articles, and I know all of us want to rant and rave now and then. So we open the SGC Articles section to submission from the general public. All articles must at least get a B in mechanics from a good English teacher because I don't want to be editing every other word. Don't flame people unless its because they did something deserving of your harsh words, and keep it general. Saying N64 freaks are ruining the scene is ok, saying Spinner 8 is the spawn of Satan isn't.

E-mail them to me and if I like it, you'll have your article in our article's section. If Jandar and I really like it, you'll be added to our list of people who will get T-shirts when Jandar makes them.

Your topic is up to you. Anything related to emulation is ok.

    Relieve. Please. Thanks, bye.

    5:10 PM - Soon... - SirYoink
Expect me to revise the English NES and Gameboy translations too...

    Relieve.

5:08 PM - SNES English Translations Section - SirYoink
After discovering a few problems on the SNES English tranlsations section, I decided to compare it to some files on my hd. I updated a few files, weeded out a few dead translations, and added a few new ones. Here's a list of translations that weren't listed at all. They can all be found on our translations page now.

    4:15 PM - News Bits - Jandar
OK, I suppose this should be have been expanded to include the two translation releases that I mentioned below, but I didn't decide until right now that I would go back to the ol' News Bits at least for today. So right now they're somewhat lacking..

9:31 AM - Majin Tensei Translation - Jandar
ShadowSlayerX has released a patch for Majin Tensei, which is an SNES strategy RPG. The patch can be downloaded here, or from our English Translations archive. Thanks to The Whirlpool for this news. Menus and items are translated, but compression has pretty much put this translation project on hold for the time being.

8:45 AM - Puyo Puyo Translation - Jandar
AGTP has released a complete translation of Puyo Puyo, which is an NES puzzle game. I have yet to play it myself, but AGTP says it's pretty nifty and I tend to believe that =). You can find the translation in our English translations archive, or download it right here.

    11:38 PM - Klepto Software - SirYoink

My own translation group, Klepto Software, has two announcements to make.

The first concerns Dark Half, a new patch release which reworks the way certain text is stored, although it only adds about 10 more lines of dialogue, is out. Grab the 14% patch here.

The second involves our DBZ: Legend of the Saiyans translation. DarkForce, of DeJap, has offered to help with the text expansion! This means future patches will soon have longer battle names with no abbreviations and uncut dialogue!

    10:12 PM - It's "Go Time" - Jandar
    Relieve.

    10:05 PM - GEM Release - Jandar
GEM is actually a Gameboy emulator for the MSX platform, and we don't actually have a section for me to put this emulator into. However, I will keep you informed of this emulator's progress. As of today, version 0.5 of GEM was released, and you can find this version upon the GEM homepage. Here's what's new in this release:

    9:44 PM - Additional DarcNES - Jandar
Yet another release of the Multi-console emulator DarcNES has come. This is just a small update from yesterday's release, and can be downloaded here. Here is what the author has to say about this release:

GIGO has released version 0.32 of his NES emulator for Windows, G-NES. This latest version can be found on our NES emulators page. Thanks to EmuHQ for the news of the release. Here's what's new in this version:

    12:22 AM - SMS+ released! - SirYoink
SMS+, a Master System/GameGear emulator for the Macintosh, has been released at version .9.1! Although this is the first version I have seen, it apparently is an update released shortly after the original and fixes a bug in sram saving. It's a good emulator, on par with MasterGear.
