1:44 PM - Stella for MacOS Release - Jandar
It's been a long time since we saw a release of Stella, the Atari 2600 emulator, for the MacOS. The version that was available before was very outdated, and the other ports had gone off ahead. However, version 1.1 of Stella for the Mac has finally been released, and can be found on the Atari 2600 emulators page.

1:28 PM - MAME Release - Jandar
A new version of MAME for DOS has been released. Version 0.36 beta 6 can now be downloaded from the MAME section. For a complete list of what's new in this beta release, check out the what's new file, or the one found in the emulator documentation. 29 new games are supported.

8:53 PM - Meka Public Release - Jandar
A few weeks back a new version of Meka, the Game Gear/SMS emulator for DOS, was released to registered users. Now, this version has been released publically. It can be downloaded from the GG/SMS Emulators page. What's new you ask? Let me give you a list:

• Hiroshi added a preliminary FM Voice Editor.
• Fixed FM emulation bug in Wonderboy 2 / Monster World 1 / Monica 1.
• FM writes are now delayed, and FM musics are now in better sync with PSG.
• Hiroshi dumped the original Japanese Master System BIOS. Then I hacked and interfaced it to includes it in Meka. To watch the demo included in the Japanese SMS: change the machine country to Japanese, remove cartridge if any is loaded and switch the power ON.
• Fixed a bug in VRAM access emulation (AX Battler sprites now works).
• Improved dynamic palette system:
  • No more color bug in Itchy & Scratchy (GG) and Bust a Move (GG)
  • Less flickering in Space Harrier (GG) menu
• Improved palette handling when a game quickly change the video mode in the middle of a frame, fixing Back to the Future 2 (SMS).

A new version of Snes9x for DOS has been released as of today. It can be downloaded from the SNES Emulators page. The following changes have been made in this latest release:

• Fixed memory leak that crept in when SA-1 support was added when loading a game freeze file.
• Added SPC dumping option based on code from Telekawaru that he sent me ages ago but I've just found again while looking for something else!
• Merged in most of the Amiga PPC port source code changes into the main source code tree.
• Keying on a sound channel seems to clear its last-sound-sample-block-just-played flag. Chaos Engine/Soldiers of Fortune needs this.
• Add multi-thread support to the UNIX ports for sound playing - required in the Linux port to work around a Sound Blaster Live driver bug and useful if you have multiple CPUs in your machine to help spread the emulation workload.

The TI calculator emulator that I mentioned yesterday, Virtual TI, also emulates the TI-83 Plus, which is one of the newest TI calculators. It has also been corrected on the TI calculators emulators page. Thanks to Dwedit for the news.

9:46 PM - New Gameboy Emulator: VisualBoy - Jandar
A new gameboy emulator by the name of VisualBoy has been released. At this time it's somewhat primitive, which makes sense, seeing as how this is it's first release. It has GBC support, but no sound support as of yet. Hopefully it will continue to improve in the future. It can be found on the Gameboy emulators page.

Virtual TI, the TI calculator emulator for Windows, has been updated recently to version 2.5b. This emulator is very impressive, and emulates all of the following calculators: TI-82, TI-83, TI-85, TI-86, TI-89, TI-92, TI-92 II, TI-92 Plus.

MAME32, the Windows port of the popular multi-arcade emulator, MAME, has been brought up to speed with a new release of version 0.36 beta 5. This brings the Windows port up to the level of the DOS version. It can be found in the MAME section.

MacMAME, the Mac port of MAME, has been updated to version 0.36b5, which brings it up to the level of the other ports. It can be found on the MacMAME Page. Here's what's new in the latest release:

• You can now maneuver through the front-end "info" menu with the left and right arrow keys. [John Butler]
• You can now reset the average fps counter by hitting Command-A. Toggling the speed throttle on and off will also reset it automatically. [Brad Oliver]
• Pressing left with the joystick should no longer causes weirdness. [Jeremy Friesen, Brad Oliver] Note - some of the new Jaleco games (Hachoo!, etc) may crash with the sound on. Disable sound for best results when playing these games.

Just a little info on what the actual DBOY changes were. Here's what's new in the latest release of DBOY:

After a long period of inactivity, the Game Boy emulator for MS-DOS, DBOY, has been updated to version 0.51. It can be downloaded from the Game Boy Emulators page. Information on this emulator is entirely in Japanese, so I'm not sure what has changed since the last version, but here is what the documentation had to say about it:

10:46 PM - Yet another Zsnes release - Jandar
Zsnes releases seem to come fast and furiously these days..and here is yet another one. Version 0.963 can be found on the SNES Emulators page, and has the following changes over the previous release:

• Fixed DMA position reader to fix the high sample rate problem in SB-Live! cards. Thanks to ShihTzu for helping us with this!
• Removed SB16 only message under stereo option in commandline help. Shouldn't really be there since v0.600.
• Low Pass Filter is now disabled by default. But you can still enable it through the GUI.
• Implemented an option in the GUI to not allow Zsnes to change the current start-up game path in the configuration. You can access this in Config->Options.
• Joystick calibration values have been reset since there seems to be some problems with it. You may have to re-calibrate your joystick if it doesn't respond correctly.

10:36 AM - Another Zsnes Release - Jandar
Shortly after the release of version 0.960 comes version 0.962 of Zsnes. This release features both C/ASM and ASM only versions, and can be found on the SNES Emulators page. Here is what has changed in this latest release:

• Exit text now only displays when text mode is 80x25
• Used hardware DMA counter to determine which sound block to write to rather than assuming it always starts at the first one for the sound routines. This should hopefully fix all those nasty sound static problems many people seems to have. Many thanks to Crono for the code and for his help!
• Removed Re-Init Every 30 Second option. Shouldn't be needed anymore
• Added the ability to disable the Low Pass Filter
• Implemented Diagonal Keys
• Implemented some SA-1 speedups

6:27 PM - MacOS Emulators Progress - Jandar
Just letting you know how the Mac Emulators section is coming. As you can see for yourself, the MacOS emulators section is progressing nicely. Almost all console systems are ready to go, I still have Computer, Arcade, and Portable systems to work on, but that's ahead. Please please please, if you are a Mac user, try downloading some of the files and make sure that they didn't become corrupted in the transfer..I'm not a Mac user myself, so I can't test them out myself. If they appear to be corrupted, let me know ASAP..I'll try to find a way to fix the problem. Hopefully the files are fine, but it's really hard to say.

6:24 PM - Snes9x Linux Release - Jandar
The Linus port of Snes9x, the SNES emulator, has been updated to version 1.25. The latest binary can be found on the SNES Emulators page. There are relatively few changes this time, but here they are:

• Added BS 24Mbit ROM memory map, for Derby Stallion 96 and Sound Novel-TCool. No idea if it works. Thanks to Nose0000 for the info and code.
  
• Corrected unzip code not to loop forever if an encrypted zip file is loaded an error is generated instead.
  
• Changed relative SPC700 cycle length for Mortal Kombat 3 to fix sample repeat problems - I wish I knew exactly how fast the SPC700 is clocked. Maybe I should write a test ROM and run it on a real SNES?

6:16 PM - New MSX Emulator (Woom) - Jandar
Woom, a brand new Windows based MSX emulator, has been released, and can be found on the MSX Emulators page. It's new, and still pretty slow. It has a long way to go, but it's not bad. Just make sure you have a reasonably fast computer.

6:01 PM - Hu-Go! Release (v1.02) - Jandar
A new version of Hu-Go!, the TG-16 (PC Engine) emulator for DOS, has been released. Find it on the TG-16 emulators page. The author had the following to say about this latest release:
"This version is a minor release. It include few new feature and is still unstable with some new stuff. A new format (again ?) appears for multi-code CDs and MP3 audio emulation."

5:50 PM - MAME Release - Jandar
A new beta version of MAME, the prominent multi-arcade emulator, has been released. Both the binary and the source code can be found in the MAME Section. A total of 1723 games are now supported. More information on what is new can be found in the program's documentation.

10:30 PM - Table Manager Utility - Jandar
CBT has released a table file manager. My experience with it so far has been very good. It's graphically pleasing, easy to use, and has many functions that let things go much faster than they have in the past. I like it.

8:37 PM - Zsnes Release Cometh - Jandar
A new version of Zsnes, the superior SNES emulator for DOS, has been released. Version 0.960 can be found on the SNES Emulators page. I guess I'll go through the trouble of listing what's new..so here goes:

• Modified header reader a bit
• DSP/SPC700: Modified EndX register usage to fix some compatibility
• DSP/SPC700: Fixed up timing registers
• DSP/SPC700: Fixed a sample looping bug causing many sounds to not sound correctly
• SPC700: Fixed a small bug in TCALL. Not sure if it fixes anything
• Added small optimisations to the MMX video copy routines
• Fixed an adsr -> gain switching bug
• Extended maximum number of cheat codes from 75 to 255
• Altered .spc format again, this time to suit the ID666 format
• Worked a bit on SDD-1 emulation. Don't think we can go any further since we can't seem to figure out the compression algorithm used in that chip.
• DSP/SPC700: Added low-pass filter by kode54. Thanks kode54 for the code! This enhances bass in some games.
• SA-1: Fixed memory map access problems with several stack instructions and d-page instructions
• SA-1: Minor fix to the timing
• SA-1: Fixed a load state problem which causes Zsnes to crash sometimes
• SA-1: Fixed a small problem with the cpu communication register
• SA-1: Added a small speed hack for Kirby 3
• Added some transparency hacks (Kirby3, FF3)
• Added an sram fix hack for Donkey Kong Country 2 trainer version
• GUI now displays a message when SAVE CFG is selected

According to the Hu6280 homepage we can expect a release with CD support of this PC Engine emulator in the near future. The emulators' homepage also contains a compatibility list naming the games known to be playable in this upcoming release.

6:05 PM - Snes9x Windows Release - Jandar
Version 1.24 of the Snes9x Windows port was released late yesterday. It can be downloaded from the SNES Emulators page. It has all the changes that the latest Linux port release had, and also the following:

• 3dfx speed hack back again, only disabled when Seiken 3 is loaded.
• Some minor SA-1 speed ups added - the SA-1 instruction skipping code will have to wait until I have more time.

8:16 AM - z26 Release (1.35) - Jandar
Version 1.35 of z26, the Atari 2600 emulator for DOS, has been released. It features some minor video code improvements over the previous version, but this release is primarily used to bring z26 "into conformance with the terms and conditions of the GNU Public License (GPL)." 8:10 AM - FCE Ultra Release (0.17) - Jandar
A new version of FCE Ultra, the NES emulator for DOS, has been released. It can be downloaded from the NES Emulators page. It features the following changes from the old version:

• Mapper 15 added.
• Mapper 23 improved.
• Mapper 24 extra sound channels emulation improved(thanks to K. Horton).
• Mapper 26 extra sound channels now emulated(" " ").
• Mapper 119(MMC3-TQROM, used in "High Speed" and "Pin Bot") improved/fixed.
• Mapper 225 added.

• Save state status bar redesigned.
• A bug causing the keyboard to not work if sound was not initialized has been fixed.

Version 0.11 of MSX, the Game Gear emulator has been released, and can be found on the Game Gear Emulators page. As usual I don't actually know what has changed because of all the documentation and the site being in Japanese. If anybody does have a translation for the info, please let me know. Otherwise, you just have to assume that it's better than the old version =).

8:15 PM - Dragon Ball Z 2 Translation - Jandar
Another slightly delayed update, but a 35% complete translation patch for Dragon Ball Z 2 is available from the English Translations page. The translation was done by Omniverse with translation primarily by SkrEmnJava and some help from SgtBowhack. Thanks to Paladin for the info.

A new version of Hu-Go!, the TG-16 emulator for MS-DOS, was updated today (well..yesterday if you want to be specific) to version 1.01. It can be downloaded from the TG-16 emulators page. Here's the updates that this version includes:

I could have sworn I had YY-Mario Editor on the Level Editors page, but I guess I was wrong..
Regardless, I've added it now, and it can be found there.

7:52 PM - Snes9x Windows Update (v1.22) - Jandar
A new version of Snes9x for Windows has been released. It can be downloaded from the SNES emulators page. The following changes have been made for this version:

• Finially fixed the corrupt copy of Donkey Kong Country not working problem Snes9x thought the ROM used the same memory map as Street Fighter Alpha 2.
  
• Added explode, unshrink and unreduce decompression modes support to the unzip code.
  
• Fixed offset per tile bug that crept in after me trying to fix the Starfox on-tilt bug.
  
• Made some fixes to the C Super FX emulation code, enough to get most 'FX games playable on the Mac port.

Well I though I should update. I know most of you heard of the Destiny of an Emperor Translation...yes probably the best WAR/RPG type game is almost complete. As stated on their web-site Destiny Translations has completed the translation and insertion of bank three...mening only bank 4 is left. This is one translation people shouyld not over look.
