------------Instant List v0.99à-------------- by ---------------Pith Possum------------------ Ok, first the legal stuff: Should your hard drive burn in hell, make invalid clusters or have any other defect while or after running this program, I'm not responsible. By running ILIST.EXE you agree that if anything should happen to your system (hardware / software) it's your problem and I ain't got nothin' to do with it. Anyways, of course it won't have any problems, taken that you downloaded this file from either The Possum's page, TechKnight's or Jeff Frohwein's. If you get it else where, for example the usenet, better scan it. I recommend using Mcafee, ThunderByte, Dr. Solomon and F-Prot. (Yes use all 'em not just 1..) Ah and fuck scan it even if you took it from my page.. I keep viruses I find in zips so I actually MIGHT have something.. especially because of that little ball that keeps bouncing everywhere in the screen.. :) Er, like what does it do anyways? --------------------------------- This is a little utility to create an instant list of the gameboy games you have, without having to enter the descriptions etc. It will search for all the files in the current directory you're in (yes you can run it from your path) and search for *.GB. The game names aren't always complete but for most of them it's pretty easy to find out which they are. For instance DONKEYKONGLAND95 is, of course, Donkey Kong Country for gameboy. The ROM types are more for technical purposes but also offer an easy way for find out if the game has a battery. The size indicator is probably the 2nd most important for Super Smart Cards owners (which beats the crap out of VGB for portability ;) hehe) because when you plan which games to put in your SSC size is always the biggest problem. .. WHY??? --------- Well, I was getting fucking tired of using Visual DBase to keep a record of my games.. About 2 days before writing this program I met TechKnight on IRC (BTW you can find me on IRC most of the time on #oldwarez and I suggest visiting #Barog'sBar too!) who gave me a great loader he made for VGB but unfortunately writing in the descriptions was rather long and the interface for it was sorta clumsy as I didn't find a key to switch back and forth from File menu to Description edit. Therefore a program that would just read all in one batch and puke them all back into a sorted file seemed like a good and fast way to do it. .. Pfff great way to lose time.. how does it work anyways? ---------------------------------------------------------- Just type ILIST and it will make a text file named GB.LST that you can view and print to your liking. If you want another file name just type ILIST where NAME.EXT is of course the name of the file you wish to hold your list in. If you want it to sort in a different order, let you specify either by filename (default), by cartridge name (/c) and by size (/s). You SUCK. To what address can I flame you? ------------------------------------------ Well you can reach me at possum@cam.org until june 1st, after that I'm gonna change provider so I will let you know. Emails will be forwarded though for a month or so. My homepage where you can get new updates is http://www.cam.org/~possum ('till june 1st again). On IRC I'm most of the time in #oldwarez, #warez5 and #Barog'sBar under the nickname Lsd1003 (or Lsd1004 if the relay fucks up again). Any other crap you'd like to tell your now bored reader? -------------------------------------------------------- ILIST is made in Borland's Turbo Pascal v7.0. And most importantly, I got the specs about .GB files by examining various files I had with an hex editor. In other words I probably missed 1 or 2 ROM types. (Sorry) I gathered the most information I could about the file formats but ILIST can currently only read one format (which is the same kind as VGB). Even though I have a Smartcard, all I saw in the headers of the carts I backed up were 512 bytes of 0's. I really doubt SSC saves an extra 512 bytes of pure crap for nothing so I decided not to include SSC format until someone gives me the real SSC format specs. If ILIST did come across one of these files, it would leave the cartname field empty. .. doesn't have much extension besides sorting huh? ---------------------------------------------------- Well, I have had several requests, well some to be truthfull, well only 3 actually to make a command line switch to sort by cartname or size instead of sorting by DOS name automatically. Since I do not wish to make public the sources of this program, I was sorta forced to implement it. As of version 0.99á ILIST now sorts by filename, cartridge name and size. I had to rewrote the whole fucking thing but I think it was worth it. Anyhow rewriting it probably brought on some new delightful bugs for you to find. If you DID find any, lemme know ASAP. This SHOULD be the final version of ILIST, unless of course I have requests to add more crap to it or if I fix lotsa bugs again. BTW, the file limit is 1,000, but I can take it up to 2,000 or 3,000 if anyone has that many games.. Fuck you wrote a stupid 11k program and you talk as if you had coded Quake.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I take proud in my work :) Why are all your programs currently at version 0.99???????? Are you.. ELiTE?? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not only do I write programs, I also write pretty fucking good bugs. :) Most programs comming out of beta testing with version 1.0 have incredible bugs. Therefore when you see one of my programs version < 1.00, it's a beta. < 0.5 it's an alpha and < 0.013 it's non-existent. :) Is that about it? I feel like shooting myself right now. -------------------------------------------------------- Gameboy is a registered trademark of Nintendo of America. Visual DBase is a registered trademark of Borland. Quake is a registered trademark of ID Software. VGB List is not really registered but is copyright by TechKnight, and you can get the latest version at...er, had I remembered the site I would have written it but since I don't just go to my homepage and I should have a link to his page (Jeff's too). Don't you EVER SHUT-UP?!? ------------------------- 1. I need some specs for SSC format and possibly other formats of .GB files. (I never saw a Pro-Fighter / Super Wild Card DX file format but I'd appreciate if anyone could tell me about either ones). A list of all ROM types with byte codes would be nice too. 2. One last thing.. If you actually like this program, please PLEASE send me an email at possum@cam.org!!! I REALLY REALLY wanna know what you think of it and/or if you have suggestions, fire away! I answer dumb questions with stupid answers and requests for games with my own requests for games. Anwyays hope you like it! L8r Pith Possum 05/30/96
