Table Maker v.1.2 by Griffin Knodle, a.k.a. Jair, 10/15/98 E-mail:gknodle@trinity.edu http://fly.to/vale WHAT IT IS ------------------- Table Maker is a little time-saver I made up that helps you make TBL files for use with Necrosaro's Thingy or my upcoming Script Extractor / Inserter. It saves you a lot of typing. WHAT YOU'LL NEED ------------------- this program tblmaker.dat (needed for romaji -> kana conversions) WHAT TO DO ------------------- Run the program. Enter whatever file name you want to write to. Now pick the entry mode to start in. If you're going to use the TBL file for script dumps from a Japanese ROM, you'll probably want to use romaji to kana mode. For example, if you type "ka", Table Maker will output the value for hiragana ka (A4AB) to the table file (instead of the ASCII values for lowercase k and a). (See the Romaji -> Kana Notes below.) Now enter the value (decimal or hex) to start at. Now start making entries for your TBL file. If you want to switch between Romaji -> Kana mode and plain ASCII (what you see is what you get) mode, just type "mode." To skip an entry, just hit return. Type "exit" when you're done. Just run the program. It's pretty straightforward, and a lot easier to understand than my explanation. Example ------------------- I just made a TBL file for Radia. First I dumped the graphics tiles using my Graphics Extractor, and opened up the bitmap with Picture Viewer. I know through my previous research that hiragana a is 04h. So I fired up Table Maker, used mode 1, and started with "04h." Then I just looked across the rows of tiles, typing what I saw. I had to switch modes a couple times, because there's an uppercase English alphabet in there too. Romaji -> Kana Notes ------------------- - Lowercase letters are hiragana. - Uppercase letters are katakana. - I tried to support both major systems of romanization (i.e. you can type "si" or "shi" and you'll get the sama kana). - Small ya yu yo = 'ya 'yu 'yo - Small tsu = 'tsu - Small a i u e o = 'a 'i 'u 'e 'o - Etc. - The v sound (katakana u with dakuten) = VU - Open quote = ' - Close quote = '' - Open outlined quote = " - Close outlined quote = "" TERMS OF USE ------------------- This program is distributed with its source code. You may use, distribute, and modify it freely. Only two restrictions: These terms of use must stay the same, and you must always include the source code with the program. Oh, and I'd appreciate it if you credit me as the original author. DISCLAIMER ------------------- All games and systems mentioned are copyright their respective companies. I am not responsible for any damage you may cause to your computer or software by using this program. Owning a ROM is illegal unless you already own the cartridge. If there are runners on first and second and fewer than two outs, a fly ball hit to an infielder shall be ruled "caught" even if the infielder drops it. I think that about covers everything.
